January 2013 Bandsters Unite

My date is January 22 and I was asked just last night if I was nervous or worried and can honestly say no not even a little bit. That is how I know I have made the right decision for me. As far as telling people I have told everybody I know and some I don't know. As far as them judging me I don't give a rats furry behind. I have been judged all my life just by being fat. You know oh look at her she must be lazy, slow, a glutton. Why doesn't she do something about it. I am doing this for me. Really don't care what others think. Most people that say this is a cop out or the lazy way are talking out of ignorance. They did not put in the hours of research. Many of them have never had a weight problem. Been on the diet roller coaster. been outcast simply by looks.

thanks to those who provided some comments about post-op experiences. I got the call a little while ago. Have to be at the hospital at 9 Monday morning. Just want to get it over with. Trying not to go on the scale all the time so I just weighed myself at the pre-op testing last week, and again today. Twelve days on the pre-op diet...ten and a half pounds down. I'm not much of a cook and the kids are on their own so my hope for eating once everything settles down is to be able to do as I used to...pick up food pre-made at the grocery store but instead of baked ziti....a piece of salmon, and some mashed potato with it...small portions, and a full belly so I don't graze the rest of the night. That would make me very happy.

Congrats. I am 3 days after surgery and each day does get better.

The first full day was the worst for me and 3 days on I still have gas pain and a little of a sore throat. But each day is better.

Good luck

Im finishing day 5 pre op. I have been great all week. Tonight has been very hard. Its the weekend and I really am not feeling the mixture of broth with popsicles and Jello :(. I still have not been able to drink six shakes. Ive only been able to drink 3 a day. I plan to go get a massage tomorrow to keep my mind off everything. I hope next week is better.

I have been reading posts on LBT since July '12 but just "signed up" today. My surgery date is Jan. 21 at 9am. I am on day 6 of the pre-op diet... Today has been the most diffucult because it's the weekend and I have more free time. Good luck to all!

My surgery is jan 25th. 13 days and counting. Day 3 of diet and today I'm hungry. It's hard but I've lost 10lbs in 2 weeks.

I had an original surgery date of January 4th,2013, which they rescheduled to the 11th because my surgeon decided to go on vacation. He then decided he wanted his partner to assist and rescheduled it again to the 16th. So, I am doing my pre-op diet, down 11lbs so far, and anxiously awaiting my surgery day. I have told anyone and everyone what I am having done and have heard all kinds of comments, both negative and positive. I don't give a darn what anyone thinks, it is my life and if my MD, my gynecologist, and my surgeon all think I

need this surgery, then I will go with their advice over the naysayers. Good luck to everyone and thanks for all the great info on this forum.

Had my surgery yesterday and I'm still in a lot of pain. They did really well keeping me from getting sick- they had me smelling peppermint oil and put some kind of accupuncture Bracelet on me. It was really different, but it worked. No post-op vomiting at all. Now if I could get rid of the gas pain!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
