If you can, try to eat your Protein instead of drinking it. As you start healing and the swelling goes down you will find that you can eat/drink more. Drinking is okay because it goes right through you, but be careful on the eating. meat pureed sounds nasty, but I was so happy to get to that phase. I got a rotissaire chicken, put alittle bit of no fat gravy with it and put it in the bullet. Had the consistancy of thick Peanut Butter, but it was sooooo good. tuna salad, chicken salad, just make sure it is all in a blender.

I couldn't do any of the Protein Drinks either, so eating my protein was important. I added cottage cheese to my cream Soups and put it all in a blender for added protein. Greek yogart is good. If you had to do a pre op liquid diet you may be able to go back to those shakes........to up your protein. But you do need to start eating if you are on pureed.

Good luck.

Surgeon also said stay away from chicken noodle soup..lol she said eat real meat but pureed

Hi Annie, every surgeon is different that is why it is imperitive you speak with yours about what you are and are not allowed to eat. We can all tell you what 'we' had during this period, and beleive me you will get 15 different replys. The only advice I can give you is to keep yourself hydrated and write down all the questions you need to ask your surgeon. Perhaps ask for a diet meal plan, one that you can follow.

Best of luck and take care of yourself,

No one really answered your question. I usually do my shakes in the morning. I am not sure if there is any special time you are to drink them. Just make sure to call your surgeon and find out how much Protein he wants you to have a day. I usually had Soup for lunch, and a greek yogurt for supper. Just something to think about.

I agree with everybody above that every single person is different in what they can and cannot eat. I think because I adhered to the doctors orders and did not eat any solid food for the month after surgery that I healed well and I have never had to have any fills. Even with no fills, I can get stuck and get full with very little food, I cannot explain it but it has worked for me and I feel great. Good luck and follow your doctors orders.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
