Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!

Recommended Posts

Is there anyway you could do it by donation...ie those that donate X amount loose the adds instead of charging monthly??? or something.

I agree I would pay to get rid of the ads. Maybe we could do a stagard (sp?) system. Free you get all the ads and less features, 5-10 bucks a month you get all the features and no ads (ie, Chat, Journals, Photo albums, total access to all the new goodies). Personaly I think anyone running a website of this magnatude should be compensated. You know its not a few minutes a day blogging to take care of this site!!

I would like to see a "newbie" where you can go to get all the FAQ, abreviations, just getting started, light insurance info, "requirements" for the procedures, I think the video I saw on the two different surgeries at OR-live.com really helped me make up my mind on the procedure I wanted (GB or Band), more stuff like that. Kinda help them along with the research part of it, and maybe a newbie question area we can go in to help those questions that get asked over and over so they dont gum up the rest of the forum.

I would also like to see more options added in the profile sections. Can we have our own personal photo album? A favorites button for threads you are following, maybe a more user friendly buddy list?

Most deffinatly agree to the smaller signature lines. Can we make more room for the "extras" in the profile as well?

Thank you for Lapbandtalk.com it truely was my lightbulb moment when I found it! Please keep up the phenominal work!

Alli :clap2:

Great ideas! I'm going to be working on all of these this week.

Wendell Edwards has about the greatest LapBand 101 and 102 I've seen yet, they address almost all of the pre-op and research questions I've had about the band itself. I saw it on his sig over at OH, but I know he posts here, too.

I know a lot of us don't like the ads on here, but wanting to charge people would make it hard for some of our members to stay on. Not everyone can afford to pay to come and post here. I can put up with all the ads if it means that everyone will be able to still use this site.

I agree - pay and you get the whole enchilada, including journals and specialized options like changing the colors on your screen.

Don't pay and you get all the ads, fewer options and the all important information on the band.

I would pay to be a "premium member" - or whatever.

BTW - what does "Rep Power" mean?

One more thought.. in the area where we have our state forums located.. (or where ever) could we add one for the military? (Maybe near the top since most wont think to look for something like that?) It would just be nice to have someplace to go talk to other people in the military with similar doctor/insurance issues!

Thanks again!

Alli

i love the blue color - thanks for the change - that green sort of made me ill!

p.s. i would pay too for no ads - but i don't notice them as much either so I guess that doesn't matter so much now.

i did notice DC wasn't listed under the states - yeah i know it's not a state but it is the US capital and since i'm moving back there soon - would be nice to have that included.

thanks for all hard work

Hi,

I received an email birthday greeting from Lapband yesterday. My birthday is today the 10th and I noticed I am not listed on the birthday list. Just thought I would let you know in case it's a quirk of some kind.

Thanks,

Gail

That's bizarre! Seems to be working when I just tested it.

I noticed that there are now threads for each state. I think it would be nice if there was a section for threads by the months. I always have to search all over for the December banster thread. I hope I am not asking for too much. I already appreciate everything you do Alex. LBT is by far the best and you must be a genius to keep up with all of this.

I can't find the spell check. I didn't think we needed to download anything to be able to use the LBT features. I also don't see a calendar above on the blue line. It starts with home and ends with log out. Is that where there is

supposed to be a calendar?

Hi... I have not been to the laptalk boards for about a year now... just didn't have what I was looking for. Now I am 2 years with my band and I would love to go somewhere and not get slammed for speaking my mind about my band. Most of the boards are visited by pre op and post op.. with lots of questions.. just like I was...

Now I am not always happy with my band and would love to go somewhere to whine... and not get a book of advice on why my band isn't working for me....

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
