January 2013 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Thanks Lapbandit. Day 1 was haaaaaaard. Day 2 a little better. The trick is not to let myself get too hungry so every time I start to feel hunger pangs, I drink Water or Crystal Light or I eat Jello, applesauce, a popsicle or drink a cup of broth. I have to call my doctor today to see if I can substitute something else in place of the Bariatric Advantage bars. They are horrible!

If I start to feel really hungry, I snack of fruits low in sugar or non starchy veggies. It helps a lot. I hate eating anything in a bar form. Medifast ruined that for me lol cuz the bars and the puddings were the only things I liked, and I ate too many of them for too many moths last year. I feel your pain. Though when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was 2 pounds lighter then yesterday and thats WITH me starting my period. So I know I'm doing something right. Best of luck and keep up the good work!

Thanks babykins! Unfortunately, my doc doesn't allow fruits and veggies, but I'm hoping he might after I explain the problem I have with the bars. I gag as soon as I take a bite. I'm waiting for his office to call me back.

Yay for the 2 pounds off! Keep up the good work!

Good Evening all,

Let me start off by saying I see why they tell you to drink plenty of Water when doing the pre-opt diet. A self correcting error is what i call it. Any way I did good with my shakes I see as time goes by it gets better.

Ahh! After working out self-pay (thank you, husband's Christmas bonus!) and getting my pre-op taken care of... my surgery is THIS Tuesday! The hardest part so far has been quitting my Coke Zero habit - I used to drink three 12 oz. bottles or more a day. I had been tapering off, but I finally just went cold turkey a week ago Thursday. Now that the headaches have passed, it's not so bad! Our surgeon's pre-op diet is just a "balanced diet" or "eating clean" - still an adjustment, but not terribly difficult. But tomorrow - liquids only! I've got a fridge full of virgin Jell-o shots waiting for me this week. :)

Wednesday cannot get here soon enough!!! 2 wks of liquids pre-op, 10 days post op.... Ugh I am tired of liquids!!! I am ready for some grits, oatmeal or Soup. Something with taste. Once I am banded I hope everything goes by a little quicker.

I have my surgery this coming Tuesday the 15th... I have been on the pre-op diet for two weeks and have lost 10 lbs.. fortunately my insurance did not require a long extended diet.. If I was a successful dieter I wouldn't need a lapband.. lol I have been on every diet known to man,

I lost and re-gained hundreds of lbs. so hopefully with the help of my lapband I will be successful in not only losing but keeping it off.. good luck to all my band of sisters and brothers for January 2013...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
