I'm having my first fill in the morning via Fluoroscopy. I'm really nervous because of the horror stories I've read about people getting really sick after because it's too tight.

Hi there! I understand your worry. I got banded 12/11/11. Since then, I had only one fill that was too tight, and I had to go back in a couple days later to get some taken out. Your doctor won't add that much to begin with (at least mine didn't). Just make sure if your doctor as you drink Water afterwards you are HONEST with him or her if it feels too tight when swallowing. Good luck! I'm sure everything will go smoothly! :)

The first fill can be really unnerving because it's a new experience.

The best advice I can offer is to take a big drink of Water before you leave the surgeon's office. This way, if you are too tight, the Water will likely gurgle back and you can immediately get a little taken back out. I actually had to have some removed immediately after my first two fills, I took a big drink and I had water literally gurgling back up my throat. But...I was thankful. Because I drank the water right there on the exam table, it was rectified immediately so it was no big deal.

You'll do great, just try to relax :)

Thanks ladies. I appreciate the responses and encouragement! I will definitely make sure things feel right before I leave. I'll definitely need to be aware of things after I leave too, since it's thanksgiving week and their office will be closed for two days. That should be an interesting holiday for me, having just had my first fill!

You will do fine. Just try to go on an empty stomach or dont eat a few hours before. Yes make sure you can drink Water before you leave. Stay for at least 30 minutes to an hour after your fill. If you can't then let them take some back out. Best of luck to you.

I'm back at work. He put in 6 cc! So far I haven't had any issues with Water, but it feels a little uncomfortable, almost like if your bra is too tight through there? But I didn't know if it was normal to feel a little bit of irritation from just the tightening procedure alone?

You do get swelling after a fill so just try to do liquids today. Wow he is aggressive with his fills.

I keep forgetting to ask that! It's not written on my medical card they gave me, which I thought was odd. Good timing right before Thanksgiving too, huh? Ha! But I'm glad...keeps me from going overboard. I'm ready to move forward.

This is all great advice. I have my first fill next week, so I am going to make sure I use these tips. I just hope that I will not be filled too much, especially on my first visit.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
