STOP FREAKING OUT!!!! Your weight can fluctuate from day to day, hour to hour. Depends on lots of things- have you eaten more salt and has less to drink? Is it near your time of the month? Have you been exercising more?

If you want to be successful with the band, you will need to stop letting the scale make or break your day! Take a deep breath...then again.....

Honey, you lost 20 lbs. in 30 days! That is amazing if not almost too much weight! My thoughts:

1) You are being too hard on yourself. Fluctuations of a pound or two are normal. Get on the scale once a week or once every two weeks instead of every day. If you are the kind of person who will get very emotional over a small fluctuation like that, then you need to give yourself more distance from the scale and look at the overall picture.

2) We all have difficulty in social situations sometimes. It is normal and it is okay. We aren't always going to be perfect every single minute of every single day. If that was such an easy feat, none of us would have needed lap band in the first place.

3) Exercising. Yes, it is important, but missing a day here or there is not going to kill you. Believe me, it isn't falling in Water that makes us drown, it is staying there that makes us drown. If you miss a day, try to start again the next day.

4) Don't apologize for the tears. You are a passionate person who wants to lose the weight badly, that is very obvious. However, maybe think about talking to someone? Sometimes a therapist can help keep you positive when you are being too hard on yourself. Sounds like you might need some positive encouragement and permission to not be perfect! There is no shame in needing a little extra support.

5) Hang in there. Think of how much weight you've lost, and how that supercedes the small fluctuation you perceive to be a legitimate gain. That two pounds might be gone in a day or two, and all this stress and worry isn't going to help. Your body can sense when you are happy and optimistic and it can sense when you are depressed or unhappy. Try to stay positive. It will help you be successful.

You are doing great. No one here is perfect. We all have our days. Your 20 lb. loss is incredible in such a short time. You can do this, but please don't feel you have to lose so much so quickly. Slow and steady wins the race!

You are doing just fine and I agree with those who said that 20lbs a month might be too much. I am very concerned at how you reacted to a 2lb gain and am wondering if it would help if you could talk to someone professional about your fears of weight gain. There is nothing wrong with getting someone to help you through this journey and remind you to focus on the positive. I would be jumping for joy for 18lb loss in one month and instead of jumping for joy for you, my heart was breaking at the obvious devistation you were feeling..............take care of yourself body and mind.

The weight didn't go on in a day or a month and taking 20 lbs off in 30 days is quite and achievement. Why not set little goals for yourself... I made mine in ten pound increments because to think of losing 217 lbs was too overwhelming. All but 2 months i beat or exceeded my goal. And the 2 times i didnt average ten lbs in a month i ended up making it up the next month.

So now here I am... 2 lbs from goal and 23 months later.... And I decided to go another ten lbs to 150. Go figure!!

Best of luck to you

I want to tell you the same thing that snapped me out of my fear of old habits.

If you live in the past history will repeat itself. If u mess up today think of how u can correct it tomorrow . We will all make mistakes at some point. And u are human so not all of ur goals will be met just try ur hardest not to make the same mistakes u made over the weekend.

This will not be ur last bad day but look forward to tomorrow and know u have the strength and support to get thru this

Thankyou all!! for your replies. I am aware that since I had the lap-bad done It's like a mental switch was pulled in my head and I'm a daily weight type of person. I have fallen prisioner of the scale bu tI hided for so many years from it that now I feel like I need to face my reality daily. I hope that makes sense. I guess I need to find a balance. I have been told before that 20lbs is to much to lose in one month ( even unrealistic) well actually I lost 20lbs in 25 days then I regained 2lbs. Some people worry as to how I do it but let me assure you its a really healthy meal plan. I eat 6 times a day, high on Protein, low on sugar and carbs, I drink about a gallon of Water or try to and I exercise 5 times a week for an hour and if I cheat I do an extra half an hour of exercise. My mistake was that I diviate it from my daily routine for three days =( I just freake dout because I'm so afraid of gaining back the weigh I have lost. I can't survive like I was before and i say survive because I wa snot living I was surviving. Thank you all again your words have really helped me to chill a bit. Thanks again. =)

My weight fluctuates almost up to five pounds on any given day. It is determined by what I ate that day and how much Water weight I am holding on too. I do not get upset about that. If I eat say edamame with sea salt the salt will make me retain water. Sometimes even though I drink a lot of water I don't pee as much until the next day then I am 6lbs lighter. You can't stress everytime the scale goes up. If you do then stop weighing yourself everyday. I weigh myself every day but know that if it goes up that I am okay with it. Its not like 10lbs of gained weight. Come on your going to sabotage yourself already. Losing weight depends on a lot of factors. Are you sleeping, pooping, peeing, all these things matter in weight loss. Stressing over 2lbs will not only stall your weight loss but will put you in a stalled mode. You cant stress every time you don't lose. There will be times when you don't lose for weeks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
