Keep in mind that for every cup of caffeine you drink you have to drink double in Water to stay hydrated. I never drank coffee' date=' but was an iced tea freak! Now no soda and no iced tea, but I do drink an occasional hot decaf tea when I am cold.[/quote']

I heard this same thing. Caffeine acts as a diuretic and it's dehydration that's the problem. So if one drinks coffee, drink extra water.

That's awesome. I have not lived there since I was 12. Where in Scotland if you don't mind me asking?

Hillhead it is just outside of Glasgow. My family now live in Dunfermline. :)

Oh okay. I have heard of both of those places. I'm from the Aberdeen area.

I can answer this one.... I just had a fill with a new surgeon as mine retired... :( He says that caffiene is an irritant to your stomach... thats why you get heartburn from too much coffee.... He said it can really irritate your stomach and it can also contribute to band erosion.... He scaired me enough to start cutting back. Can't quit yet gotta wean down to avoid the headaches. I got a 6 month old so when he asked me if I was drinking caffiene I sad yes and he said how much? I said I have a 6 month old and work FT so alot lol.... He asked me to stop.... and thats what he told me in the caffiene lecture lol.

My surgeon told me the same thing, about it irritating my stomache. So sure enough I went a whole year without caffeine and tried it again (just a cup in the morning for two days) my stomache started hurting when I would get empty. Went a few months back on decaf and tried just one cup of regular coffee and the pain came back quick. So I guess there is something to it.

PKB Awesome!! Yup thats me ALL day. Lol :)

I was told no regular coffee until til I was 6 weeks out, not sure why though. Haven't had a soda in awhile, and I really want one!

Caffeine is a natural diuretic and your Dr does not want you to get dehydrated.
