Question On Amounts Of Fills

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill today, I had 1cc in the band and she added 1cc. I asked a few questions and apparantly my clinic does not add more than 1cc at a time.......just the way they do things. I don't pay for fills, so that is not the issue, but it seems like it might be a much longer road to restriction than I thought.......thoughts?

I had my first fill. I went from Empty to 4 cc's in one fill.

My first was 1.5 and then after that they were approx 1 ml at a time. I lost weight. I didn't feel overly hungry. I don't recall going through bandsters hell. Australian Dr's believe that small frequent fills are safer than large aggressive fills and they do still work. They also allow you to ease into the new eating style so theoretically it should be a bit easier.

I have to agree with you mine which I didn't knwo from the surgery put in 4cc and then my first fill at .5 cc and from then will only do .5 ccs I am not in green zone and think it will take longer than I anticipated. I just think when I got the surgery and read all the posts i was expecting things to be quicker. oh well it will come.

Its better to go slower. If you get all filled up what do you have left to work with. I think going slower is better. Gives you time to adjust and if you get an agressive fill causes much more swelling then if you get a small fill.

Just my personal opinion, but I think it's better to go slower with fills. It's a lot easier to ease into the Green Zone than it is to blow past it into over-filled, then trying to back Fluid out and into the Green Zone.

I know it can be frustrating because it can take longer, but I really think it's smarter and safer in the long run.

I had my first fill yesterday and was surprised to find out I had already gotten 2 cc's at surgery. He then put another 2 cc's in and told me to spend the weekend on liquids. He also said that if I required another fill, which I would know if it was necessary, to make an appointment for one; otherwise, I don't see him for another 3 months. I'm not 100% sure I'll know if and when I hit the green zone, but do not plan on getting another fill unless I have no weight loss or stay hungry. I won't know that for a while I guess.

I was banded on 1st Oct, with a 4ml fill from theatre, I have my fist fill 7th Nov, I was told today, my appt will be each mth, with Nuse, and depending on my food dairy,(more crunch foods) as to what I am eating,it may be 1ml fill or none at all, lost 14lbs to date, if they feel weight loss to much, No Fill

Thanks everyone, even though I know all this (just like I knew about slow to no weight loss after surgery) somehow it still seems to surprise me. I would rather crawl up to the green zone than blow right past it and have to find it again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
