A Little Disappointed

Recommended Posts

My insurance won't cover the Lap Band. Right now in my life I just don't have the money to pay out of pocket. I was hoping that with this being a medical need they would cover it. I don't know what I'm going to do now. :(

Really sorry to hear that! I heard that for years with my insurance. They finally got wise and changed their policy. Maybe your company will too, soon.

In the mean time you could put some lapband rules into affect and see what happens. I lost almost 30 lbs in 6 mths doing that.

Best wishes & again I'm sorry!

Did your insurance co decline you or do they not cover wls in general? You might be able to appeal.

Another option is financing. I was self pay and my doctors office offered financing.

In the mean time try Maddys advise. She did amazing before her surgery. Stick around here and we'll support you every step of the way.

Good luck to you.

I go November 19th to learn more about my options. I just called my insurance and they will not cover it even if it is a medical reason. I need to have my gallbladder removed and they will not take it b/c of my weight. At this point I can't do any working out b/c I'm in so much pain. I used to do zumba four days a week. I don't sleep at night b/c of the back pain I have. I have ordered some Protein Shakes to start trying to make some small changes to my life style. I need this change!!!!

I would research the appeals process with your insurance company. You might be able to fight them, would your doctor help you fight them?

I know the surgeon that won't do the gallbladder surgery will.

Insurance can turn you down for gallbladder surgery? That's crazy! That's a medical problem, not some random surgery. Surely they can't make you live like that!

I would try to appeal if you can.

I am a self pay... my insurance just doesn't cover bariatrics on my policy. They wouldn't even consider it. So i understand.

Good luck!

I am a lot like you as far as pain goes.

I need double knee replacement, just had my car totalled and anything that didn't hurt before, hurts now. That's why I started the LBS journey. I couldn't live with the pain anymore. I didn't exercise, so weight loss was with no exercise.

Do the best you can until something else can be worked out.

Best of luck!

Very sorry to hear about your car wreck. I got some of the Protein shakes in the mail last night that I'm trying today. Not to bad. Do you have a favorite Protein shake? I'm going to try yet again to loose some weight on my own till I'm able to get the lap band done.

costco Premier Protein shake (chocolate) I put in the freezer for 40 minutes or so. It comes out like a shake or thick smoothie. Maddy hit right on what you can do. Mentally prepare yourself that you are still on track for surgery and start eating leaner and better. I lost 34 pounds prior to surgery (less than 2 months) by drinking Protein shakes and eating a dinner salad with chicken or tuna. I exercised some, but not alot. Whether surgery comes soon or not, try and keep a good mental attitude and your health will improve in the waiting game. I would appeal it and have your family doctor sight any health issues that could be eliminated by having the surgery. Your family doctor can help with appeal.

Best wishes and I hope something good comes your way soon.

Did your insurance tell you that on the phone? I would talk to the weighloss surgeon. Mine told me that they dont pay for it on the phone for about 10 calls I made to them asking. Then one day I got some one that said yes we do but it has to be medical need for it and you have to meet the guildlines. That person could not tell me the guildline tho. The dr knew them tho.

Thanks so much! I'm really trying to do this. I had a Protein Shake for Breakfast this morning and I'm doing ok! I'm not much of a drinker period. I don't get near the amount of drink I need for the day so I'm really trying to work on this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
