The Good And Bad

Recommended Posts

I LOVE my band and the feeling of freedom and control it has returned to my life. I no longer feel like a slave to my food habits or like a failure because I cannot succeed at a diet long term. I have learned new skills about feeding my body, and even though I still enjoy treats, etc, I am not out of control anymore.

I had a really quick healing process post-surgery. I took my pain meds for three days and followed the post-op diet as closely as I could. I did get delayed gas pains at about day four or five that lasted for a few days and went away. Burping and farting are common post-op occurences as the body is ridding itself of the gas, but they do not last permanently.

Just read all you can about living with the band and you will be well prepared.

I love this thread. My surgery is November 7. I am glad I read this, since tonight I have had a couple glasses of wine and am doubting myself and my decision. You all rock..

I've been banded and rebanded. (disconnected tubing) and now that mine is finally working how it should, I loooooove it. I'd do it again. The first four days are a little rough but that's what rest and pain medication are for. You'll do great!

Me too! Banded yesterday (3rd). Really having more pain than I thought I would. Gas pain is the worst. Tried to shower tonight and got nauseous. Hope tomorrow will be better cuz I don't think my husband is going to make it another day with all three of our kiddos.

best decision ever ! ive been banded 10 months, lost 57 lbs, look and feel 100 % better ! i went from 225 lbs wearing a size 18-1x to a slim size 14 at 168 lbs and im still loosing ! i get compliments daily, my sleep apnea is gone, my joints dont hurt, i feel great etc, etc , etc ! i swim 3x a week, and this week i joined a running group (I ran 2 miles today ! last year ? couldnt of run if i had tried !!) never in a million years could i have guessed that i would feel this good after only 10 months !!! my recovery was easy as pie, mild gas pain , switched to liquid tylenol for the 3rd day and then didnt need it anymore. I followed the Drs rules 95 % of the time (choose healthy foods, small bites, chew well, exercise 3 times a week minimum, limit your sweets and get fills as needed ) and im really happy i got banded !!! BEST DECISION EVER !! GO FOR IT !!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
