The November 'band'wagon!

On June 14th I met with the doctor and began the journey of testing and evaluations. This coming Wednesday I will (hopefully) have my meeting to review my sleep study results and receive my final green light of clearance!

I am praying all goes well and that Amerihealth Insurance doesn't deny me after all these months of testing and anticipation.

I think a little puree turkey will do just fine this year for Thanksgiving… here's to crossed fingers for a November banding!!

Anyone else in the same boat? :D

It will!!! I'm day two much better than I thought it would be. Try not to think about it ur focus that u r not eating. I just try to throw myself all into my work. Especially since I will be off for a whole. Taking two weeks off then we are closed the week of Thanksgiving so after 10/30 I don't go back to work until 11/27. So gotta make sure my work is caught up even though I will still have a laptop and printer at home.

Very good point and I'm glad it gets better!! I will just try to work and sleep. Lol

You are getting a nice little break for nov!! That is good though, so you can make sure you get rest to recover.

I hope you have a fabulous day 3!!

Thanks and same to you!!!

November 5th. I'm doing SO much better on the preop diet than I thought I would. It's going on my third day.

I think my biggest fear is my liver not having shrunk enough via the preop diet and them having to do an open procedure. im worried because we are cash pay and that would wreck our finances.

I get

1 protein shake or source (eggs, chicken)

1 fruit (1/2 cup)

1 dairy (cheese stick, cottage cheese, milk)

1protein

2cups of veggies

1protein

2cups veggies

700 cals.

This will be my 3rd day on preop diet (my own) down 5 lb in 2 days. My Dr doesn't put me on a strict diet like most of you he suggested eating light the week before and nothing but clear liquids the day before surgery. I'm following a plan one of you posted and doing well so far. Nov. 2nd get here fast I'm eager

So what is everyone doing for their pre-op diet? It sounds like different docs advise different routines' date=' but most boil down to protein drinks, low/no sugar and carbs, and about 800-1200 cal. per day.

I think I will need to write myself out a schedule. I seem to do well in the day, but mess us in the evening at home. Ugh! Better planning needs to be done on my part![/quote']

I am finding this site so interesting I have had my band for 7 years now and my pre op food was Opti fast shakes for two weeks prior to surgery the reason the Drs ask you to do this is to help get rid of some of the fat around your liver it makes it easier to do the surgery! I found the two weeks prior hard it was so much better after the surgery this will be the best decision you will ever make!! Truly life changing in so many ways! I wish you luck for your pending surgery it will be an amazing journey you are about to take!

I'm anxiously awaiting Nov 7th. Have diet class and testing today. Best of luck to all of my fellow Nov Banders!

I'm on for Nov 5' date=' and I can't wait! I have only1 week of full liquid diet to do pre op and I begin that on Oct 31! I know that can be difficult, but I'm ready for the challenge and ready for a new way of eating and living![/quote']

Same here I'm ready for Nov 5th too!

I am on Day 3 of my pre-op diet. Getting banded on November 6th. It has been going pretty good. I am only allowed three shakes a day plus broth and sugar free ice pops. So far, I have just been having the shakes. Not too hungry....been drinking lots of water and no calorie drinks.

Hardest part I am having a problem with is breaking the habit of eating. I was making my kids' lunch and really had to keep myself from munching. I wasn't even hungry....just so used to it.

On the bright side, the number on the scale is getting smaller!

How much have you lost?

I've lost about 7 lbs but I'm trying no to pay attention to the scale too much right now so I don't get disappointed. My clothes definitely feel better, though.

This is so hard' date=' but i know this will pass. I got all shaky, nauseous, and have a headache, and it is only day one. Pushing through, and know it will get better. Hopefully since i get to drink shakes i will feel better. Less than two weeks though! Woot woot![/quote']

My doctor is letting me drink the Slimfast 3-2-1 protein shakes. The strawberry ones are really good and filling. Give it a day or two and you will feel better, just hang in there!

I'm on day 5 pre-op diet and you definitely will get used to it quickly' date=' hang in there! I wasn't even that hungry today, finally![/quote']

Thanks so much. Today on day 2, was a little better. not great but better then yesterday. I was teasing my friends yesterday before i got to eat my lean cuisine for dinner and told them i hope i didnt eat the cardboard. lol looking forward to each day closer. Thanks again. :)

My date is Nov. 2nd' date=' excited and nervous at the same time[/quote']

me too. I went back to the doc today for all my final things before surgery, and now i am even that much more excited. :)

I am so excited! I just got my date!!! Another November 6th girl here! I would love to have some facebook buddies if anyone else is down!

I am also set for Nov 6. Currently in the excited/terrified mix. I have been researching this off and on for years. Finally made the step to move forward. Good luck to you. I am now starting the pre-op diet and want to do it all "right" for the best outcome.
