First Fill A Few Days Ago...a Few Questions

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill on Friday. I am able to hold liquids down with no problems, food as well. My concern is that as I eat, I get an uncomfortable tight feeling in my chest almost like reflux. About 20 minutes after I eat its gone. Its not really painful, just uncomfortable. I am eating crumbly food. I can eat 1 egg and about 3 peices of bacon and then I know to stop or it's coming back up. What are your thoughts and experiences? My doctor won't tell me how much my band holds or how much is in there because he says he doesn't want me focusing on numbers. He said if I stop losing or can't keep food down to call him. He cracks me up because I started a question with "I've been talking to people " and he cut me off and said "first off...stop talking to people".

The tight feeling is usually a sign you've eaten too much or not chewed well enough. I actually have a really big problem with eggs now, especially scrambled. I would recommend focusing on making sure you are getting enough Protein in because as we get more fills and a smaller food capacity, nutrition is key.

My Dr described exactly what you have described. He said that was my new feeling of being full. He said being full is no longer like "after a Thanksgiving dinner", that belly full.

I'm not a Dr, but that's what he said.

Are you eating too fast or too much? I ask because that's how I feel if I eat too much too fast. One Piece of bacon i can do... 2 is too much and it comes back, just my personal experience.

You are still early on and just being banded 4 wks ago also may have something to do with it... You will find foods you can eat some weeks you cannot eat others... The band can be fickle. LOL

You might not be waiting long enough between bites. We need to give the bites a chance to go down. Chew them well then wait a minute for it to works its way down. If you start feeling that pain, that is a sign to STOP. For me, it is the first sign of getting stuck. If I put more food on top of it without waiting for it to subside, I am likely to need to vomit, urp, PB, whatever you want to call it.

i agree with all of the above. The chest thing is being full you need to find a happy medium before that.

I cannot eat scrambles eggs anymore just 1 egg over easy and 1/2 a piece of bacon

I agree, I am at one egg and a 1/2 to 1 piece of bacon. Small bites. I love eggs, but it gets cold before I can even finish it!

Thanks everyone. I guess maybe i do eat too fast. Such a hard habit to break. I'll try eating slower. It's hard because I always eat with my significant other and he wolfs it down. Then I end up not being able to finish my food and have to give him the rest. He jokes i'm trying to make him fat...lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
