  1. I am new to all of this and have only had one fill. Lately I have been on the go and very busy. I have not been paying attention so much to what I am eating or how fast. I have gotten stuck twice this week. The second time was this morning after eating some ham and scrambled eggs. I got stuck, it hurt like a sob, and it came back up. I really want something to drink, should I wait? If so, how long?

    Feeling Down

I have no restriction and have only had one fill. I am down 42 lbs since 7/27, but the past 2 weeks have been hard I have so much going on at once. I am hungry all the time and have not been making some of the best choices. I know it'll get better I am so scared of gaining. Any supportive kind words would be appreciated.

    Feeling Down

Thanks for the encouraging words. I have been craving carbs more and more lately and have had difficulty staying away from it. I get so bored with the protein sometimes. Im going to call my doctor and see if he will do another fill.
  4. I have lost. 7 lbs. Which makes a total of 43 lbs. But I keep carbs low and I excersize 3-4 times a week. I was banded 7/27.
  5. I had my first fill 10 days ago. For the first 3-4 days I felt restriction. I would only be able to eat 1/2 cup of something and I had to stop. Now I feel like that feeling is gone and I can handle almost 2 cups of food.
  6. I just had my first fill on Friday. I am able to hold liquids down with no problems, food as well. My concern is that as I eat, I get an uncomfortable tight feeling in my chest almost like reflux. About 20 minutes after I eat its gone. Its not really painful, just uncomfortable. I am eating crumbly food. I can eat 1 egg and about 3 peices of bacon and then I know to stop or it's coming back up. What are your thoughts and experiences? My doctor won't tell me how much my band holds or how much is in there because he says he doesn't want me focusing on numbers. He said if I stop losing or can't keep food down to call him. He cracks me up because I started a question with "I've been talking to people " and he cut me off and said "first off...stop talking to people".
  7. Thanks everyone. I guess maybe i do eat too fast. Such a hard habit to break. I'll try eating slower. It's hard because I always eat with my significant other and he wolfs it down. Then I end up not being able to finish my food and have to give him the rest. He jokes i'm trying to make him fat...lol
  8. Ok. I posted awhile back about having pinkness/redness around my port. It's not the incision, it's where the actual port is. I went to my surgeon and he said that it doesn't look concerning and for me to keep an eye on it. It's getting any better or worse. It actually fluctuates. Its not painful or itchy. I am supposed to have my first fill in 1 1/2 weeks and if it's not gone, I have to reschedule. Anyone else ever heard of such a thing? I am not having any other issues.

Hey Mike. I hope everything goes well for you. It's very natural to be nervous. It's a big change and a big decision. Congratulations.

    Weird Discomfort

Ok so I am 4 weeks postop and have been working out this last week and a half (got clearance from dr). I was on the elliptical the other night and I started feeling this weird uncomfortable feeling in my a diaphragm area with each breath. It's sticking around a little and can feel it when I take a deep breath, bend over, and right after eating. Any thoughts on what it could be or what I did. Not too worried, more curious than anything.

    Carb Cravings

Ok, so I am 3 weeks postop and have been told by my surgeon to avoid carbs and do Atkins. Most of the time it's not a big issue. The past couple days I have started working out. After my workout I get really hungry and crave carbs really bad. Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be and have any suggestions?

    Looking For Mentor/buddy In Illinois.

I really like Dr. Shayani. He seems really helpful and actually cares about his patients after follow -up.
  13. Hey everyone. I was banded 7/27 and doing good so far. Really would like to have a buddy/ mentor to keep me accountable.
  14. An inch below my port incision, where my port is, the skin is a pinkish color and tender. The tenderness has been there for a few days, but the pink skin just started today. I emailed my surgeon a picture and he said that he was not too concerned but to keep an eye on it and if it seems to get worse, come in to see him. Has anyone else ever had this? I was banded 7/27.
  15. I am 17 days post op. The first 4-5 days I was sore (obviously from my body going through surgery) but after that everything started feeling normal. The last two days, i have been having a lot of sensitivity at the port site and can feel it when laying a certain way or getting up from a chair or bed. Its not painful, just uncomfortable. Is this normal? Is it just because it's healing?

Cminch...that's pretty good. How are you feeling? Dino, same surgeon as me. I really like him. He is very attentive. Everything go well for you?

    Looking For Mentor/buddy In Illinois.

I had mine done at Bolingbrook Adventist. How about you. I'm down 27 so far.
  18. Ok, so I was banded on 7/27. About a half to one inch down from my port incision, there is some tenderness and the skin is firm to the touch. Is that where my port is that I am feeling or could it be a hernia?
  19. Chris410

    Port Or Hernia?

Ok...that makes sense. Thanks guys. Its not as sensitive today.

    Any gay guys been banded

I was banded 7/27. It seems pretty dead around here. Where are you from?
  22. I was banded on 7/27. My surgeon had me do liquids for 1 week. When I went in for my follow -up on my 7th day, he told me he wanted me to get used to my band and get to know it. He told me to experiment but stick to protein, and avoid carbs and only zero calorie liquids. I have been doing exactly what he said. I have lost 24 pounds. I have had no bloating, nausea, gas, nothing. Every surgeon is different. I went with the one who banded a few people I know and they were very successful without any complications. They went on and on about how much individual attention they get from him. I see what they mean. I have never met a doctor who gave me their cell, pager, and personal email. He's not bad on the eyes either...lol
  23. Thanks. It did go away after awhile. Just getting used to it all I guess. I lost 21 lbs since the surgery and just really don't want to gain it back.
  24. I am perplexed. Today is my first day of eating real food. I feel hunger pain. I eat some pretty descent size portions, but even after eating still feel hunger pain. I never had that even before the surgery. My problem prior to the surgery wasn't as that it took alot to satisfy me. The problem was I kept eating because it taste good. Also, what's with the weird feeling in my side after eating?
  25. I was banded over a week ago. I am not eating just because I can. I am eating descent size portions but feeling hunger while eating and even for awhile after and just grinning and bearing it. I thought for the first couple of weeks there was swelling that gave some restriction. I am just not used to feeling hunger before, during, and after eating.
