I have a drink once in a while. Wine or something not carbonated would be your best choice but once in a while I'll have a mixed drink, I just stir it around a little to get rid of the extra carbonation. MMMMM one of those nice fruity Hawiian drinks yummmm!

Biggest concern is empty calories - I say ENJOY yourself!

Yep, only concern is empty calories and possibly less tolerance since you are eating considerably less. I personally stick with wine (it's the least worst calorie-wise) and stay away from all carbonated beverages.< /p>

I know a woman who had lapband put in. Her husband got a very nice promotion at his job about a month after she had had her surgery. His company took them out for a nice spendy dinner. She thought she'd Celebrate so she ordered a beer. She took one drink, sat there for a couple of seconds and "EXPLODED" all over the table! The carbonation did not sit with her at all.

Once in a while I really want a beer... but I have stayed clear of them!

My surgeon said no alcohol of any type for a full year post op...but that's difficult to follow when there are so many family celebrations.

The major concerns are the empty calories you have in the wine or other alcohol...and definitely less tolerance for the amount of alcohol you consume. Last month I attended a party and had 2 Jello shots over a 2 hour span of time. I'm glad I did not need to drive...before the band this would not have affected me...post band, I was not safe to drive.

Definitely avoid any carbonation...your band does not like carbonation...

Seems like the Jello shots would be the best way to drink alcohol. I'll try to have some on hand next party we have...

I drink socially and think its fine but two things to consider - it seems like even 1 glass of wine equals 2 glasses now! So watch quantities or you may end up drunk! Also 1 frozen margarita has about 580 calories so it would seem that those yummy chichis & dacqueries would be high calorie too! Have fun tho! You are sooo lucky to be going to Hawaii! Enjoy your anniversary!

Wine should be ok. Just sip and enjoy. Laugh and have a great time. Have a fun and safe trip :)

Lapbandster you are too funny. If that isn't incentive not to have beer I don't know what is! I start liquid diet soon best have my fill of it before hand. I will miss that alot more then overeating, soda etc... While I don't drink it often I sure love it.

LOL i mean (the beer) shot out of her like a rocket, along with the little bit of appetizers she had consumed, all over. Caught her by suprise. I don't know if she guzzled half a bottle down or what, it was a woman at one of my support group meetings. I didn't know her well enough to quiz her but we had a good laugh. She was utterly humiliated, not to mention her husband.

I have coughed before and had food fly out of my mouth. (think that's a sign I've over eaten???) uff dah!

SHHHH!!! I'm really very compliant with my diet and all medical instructions...but when raspberry infused rum is mixed with raspberry Jello...just couldn't say "no"!

We won't mention this...what's written in the forum stays in the forum... ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
