I screwed up! My surgery is on Tuesday and I ate some fish and broccoli tonight! I feel so awful and don't know what to do! I am supposed to be on liquid only and have done good for the last 2

Weeks but some thing happened tonight and I couldn't help myself. Do you think it will affect my liver to the point I won't be able to get banded?

You'll be fine. Just go back to liquids tomorrow. I was banded (for the 2nd time 2 weeks ago) and we had a short time to get ready for surgery bc of insurance and the doc and nurse said all you really need is a couple of days.

Don't stress! Wish you the best of luck!

If it swathe night before they would reschedule you. As it is three days away you will probably be ok. But I recommend you tell your doctor first thing on Monday.

I'm in a similar boat. My diet is just lots of Protein and low cards (atkins style) and I've REALLY been struggling. I'm terrified but my surg isn't till Friday so I will just drink Protein Shakes till then and cross my fingers. #sososcared

I am in the same boat! My surgery is in 9 days and im on a low carb Protein diet as well and i went out with my family and ate chinese. I had a little plate and it was so good. But now im just sticking to what i have to and drinking a whole bunch of water! Whats weird though is i actually lost weight. I told my nutrisionist what happened (we are good friends) and she told me to just stick to my diet the rest of the way through and ill be fine! I was also told you really only need 3-4 days to shrink your liver :/

So so glad tohear that! I was begining to think I was the only one NOT doing liquid diets before surgery. With your diet, are you allowed to eat cheeses/meats? I'm just confused bc my doc said "atkins" and I know that Atkins includes everything besides carbs. However does it make sense that I'm allowed fatty foods!?

The best thing to do is just follow ur Dr's orders.Atkins has different phases.look up phase one and start there.you can choose lean Protein.in phase 1 it's mostly Protein and green leafy veggies.most fruit is not allowed.30 grams of carbs or less.you are allowed fatty protein cuz the premise of Atkins is" fat doesn't make you fat,sugar/insulin makes you fat."Atkins has a website that explains it.also you can just call ur dr and make him/her explain it in detail.Good luck !

I am not sure if i can have cheese or not. I am allowed 2 Protein shakes, 2 fruits, 2 veggies, 2 Proteins. But i also can have 2 cups of milk 1 cup of juice and up to 3 different dairys. So i am guessing i can have cheese. But i havent had any since i started. Its not that bad but i am starting to get worried because i cheated and ive been eliminating some things from my diet to make up for cheating. I am so scared my liver isnt going to be shrank. But i am so happy im not the only one!

No, your certainly not the only one.

With me its SO weird! I honestly have no clue if i'm cheating or not because my doc was SO VAGUE! And now i think he's on vacation so I doubt i'll even be able to confirm with him

This morning I had part of a Protein Shake

Omlet with cheese (this was his recommendation)

and some watermelon

I honestly am so confused

I understand the confusion. My doctor is saying one thing and my nutritionist is saying another. But I had two reeses cup yesterday and a little piece of chocolate cake today. I'm tired of people saying well your not ready for the life style change. I've been on a diet for six months and now I feel like i'm stress eating. I am pretty sure nobody actually went through the whole pre-op with out cheating just once! I think you should be ok with the cheese. Sounds like my dinner tonight.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
