Banded On The 25Th Hungry Now And Port Site Is A Large Lump?

Recommended Posts

hi there.. I was banded on the 25th and although I could not be happier to finally have my band placed and to be feeling better, I am worried because I expected a lump where my port is but my port area is normal looking not red or infected but is swollen and har for approx 3 inches diam. its weird, its like my muscle there has just become raised and riggid a couple inches all the way around my incision? I am concerned becasue although I fdont have much pain normally I do have alot of pain when standing back up after bending or sitting for a while. I am also becoming very hungry and frankly this is scary to me! I cannot hav a fill for atleast a few more weeks and dont want to regain any weight. I am still on full liquid diet and surviving mostly on Soups and gatorade and Water. Please tell me if this stuff is normal or what I can do about it.. thanks yall :)

Not sure what to tell you about the port. My doctor is pretty strict about post op diet. During full liquids for meals I could have 8 oz of Soup, a Protein Shake, and Jello. That's it! I'm not a doctor but I would have more of the foods you are allowed rather than advancing to other foods. Remember your body is still recovering. Make sure your Protein Shakes are 20 plus grams per serving.

Congrats on being banded! I was banded July 12. For about 3 weeks I had a swollen hard lump where port is. That has since gone down. If pain persists and swelling isn't reduced just call your doctor. I did because I thought swelling and bruising weren't supposed to happen, but doctor said it was normal. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
