i'm almost 3 weeks post op and still haven't. im scared to because i'm having port pain often. when i sleep on my side, it bothers me because it seems my belly flops to that side and moves the port area thus not feeling great. i'm always worried of messing it up. :-P

I could actually sleep on my stomach sooner than I could sleep on my left side (port side). I could sleep on my stomach about 3 days out and then my left side about 8 days. I was fine sleeping the first three nights and then really uncomfortable nights 4-7, so much so that I was getting up in the middle of the night to sleep in the recliner. Not sure why.

I ended up sleeping on my stomach a few days after surgery. I would go to bed on my back and wake up on my stomach with little pain.

I could only wish I could sleep on my stomach after surgery!! it took me about a month to do it comfortably. I think I started to roll more to my stomach with a pillow for support about 3 weeks. But one day all the uncomfortablness and pain was just gone. had no problems again until I was 20 weeks pregnant.

I am a stomach sleeper so I was miserable when I couldn't! It took me several weeks. I started out using pillows to support my belly and kind of sleeping on my side/belly. I am about 5 weeks now and can sleep any way I want!!:) Try a body pillow of another pillow on your side under your belly...kind of gave me the illusion I was on my belly I think.

My first problem was that I couldn't lay down at all. The first 2-3 nights, I was propped up on about 8 pillows. The gas pressure and shoulder pain was horrific. Once I could lay down, I took it easy and kept a pillow on one side and hubby on the other. I was probably about a week out when I woke up on my stomach for the first time. I fell asleep that way at about a week and a half.

Im 3 days post op and i can only lay on my right side or back supported by pillows on my side. Im too scared to try and lay on my left (port side) but man i cant wait till i can!! My right side is getting sore from constantly laying this way.

I rolled over to my right side in the recovery room.... And slept on my tummy that night. I think everyone is different. I think might depend on the amount of belly fat that a person has at surgery time, because the incision is so deep. I'm bigger in my butt and thighs than I am in my belly and I've noticed from other people I know personally that had larger bellies that had trouble sleeping on their side or tummy for weeks or months after surgery.

I wish I could sleep on my stomach! My incisions hurt way too much! I can barely sleep on my back and I'm 10 days post op.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
