Everyone seems to have such varied pre-op diets so I'm curious about if everyone's post-op diets are as equally varied. What was/is your pre-op diet?

I had:

Day of surgery: Water only

5 days Clear Liquids

7 days full liquids(Currently on day 1)

6 days mushy foods

Then solid food.< /p>

Mine is 48 hrs liquid then full liquids until post op visit. But can proceed to mushies if I can tolerate them.

Pre-Op I didn't have to do a diet per my surgeon (he typically always does, but my BMI was right at 35 so he said it wasn't necessary, only voluntary) but I went ahead and did Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, then salad for dinner.

Post-Op, I had two days of liquids only (water or Protein drink), two weeks of full liquid, two weeks of puree, two weeks of soft/moist, and now I'm at my first day of "regular" food.

I found the soft/moist step the most challenging for food choices.

My pre op diet starts July 18th and is 2 weeks of Optifast, 6 servings, shakes, bars or Soup.

My post op diet is 3 phases:

Phase 1 - Weeks 1 and 2: High Protein liquid diet.

Phase 2 - Weeks 3,4,5, and 6: Blended, pureed or fork mashed foods.

Phase 3 - Week 7 and on: Regular diet.

24 hours of liquids prior to surgery. That's all.

I am in the UK, I have to be on the milk diet for two weeks, i started today but cheated just after a few hours, i so determined not to do it again, but two weeks on nothing but milk, Water, sugar free juice and jelly and a oxo drink for salt, i can have teas with sweetner though.

I need all the help i can get with this, this is very hard! :/

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
