June 25Th Surgery- Nervous!!!!!

Recommended Posts

My surgery is now just one day away, on Monday, June 25th. I have been on an all liquid diet for the last two weeks. Amazingly, I did not slip up, but it wasn't easy! Now, I am starting to feel nervous and scared and I am second guessing myself. I am so worried that I am making the wrong decision, shouldn't I be excited? Has anyone else felt like this right before the surgery date?? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi. I had surgery June 13. I felt the same way right before, however, my doc did not require a pre-op diet for me, just a day before was all liquid. I felt scared, nervous, worried, everything but excited. After surgery, for the first I'd say 4-5 days I repeatedly questioned myself. As time passes, I feel better each day. The worried doubts and thoughts are less and less as I get used to this lifestyle change. Good luck! Remember, in the end it will be well worth it.

Be encouraged Daisy and Robin and trust that you both are making one of the best decisions in your life.

The surgery is safe and while the road ahead is somewhat tough, you will never regret your decision whereas your life is going to become so much fuller, livelier and enjoyable.

We are all praying for you and know you're going to enjoy great success!!!!

Mine isn't until Wednesday and I'm already freaking out (panic attacks and all). Don't forget to do the things they asked of you for the day of. My Dr's office gave me a special scrub I'm supposed to use to clean my torso before the surgery. Also can't really eat or drink anything like 12hrs before the operation. Your Dr should have given you a to do list. Also if you haven't filled your pain medicine perscription by now, go to the pharmacy asap - apparently they may not have the drug readily available. Good luck.

My surgery is June 25th also. I feel nervous and scared just like you. It is a big change and big responsibility to have lap band surgery but I am hoping a big reward too. Hang in there and know it will be alright.

Thanks so much everyone for all the replies. It is encouraging to know I am not the only one feeling this way. I am trying today as much as possible to stay busy and not entertain any negative thinking or worries. Tomorrow at this time the surgery will be over. Nebulamystic, Anonymousvegasfatty, and Robingirl, I will be sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy recovery! Rev-olution and Kallets, thanks so much for the encouragement. It really helps to hear from people who have been there!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
