When You Get To Your Goal Weight, How Do You Plan To Reward Your Self??

Recommended Posts

Oh fun question! My friend and I were banded a month apart and we set some fun mini goal rewards. The 1st is to go to Canada's Wonderland next summer if we are both below 200 and the other is to get our belly buttons pierced (not that I'd ever show anyone lol).

I think when I hit goal I'm going to have to have a ladies night. Go out and get new clothes, dress up, and hit the town with my bffs. :) I'm smiling just thinking about it...

I am scheduled for my band on July 16th, I have a checklist of things I am looking forward to. I plan to purchase a charm Bracelet and add a new charm at every goal I meet.

Considering the best reward will be the weight loss and goals. While I haven't given it a thought yet because I am not banded' date=' however I know this sounds ridiculous, but I always wanted a leather jacket. I could own one if I want, but at my weight honestly I never thought I would look good in one. I don't want a long one, I want a short one hopefully one that will show off my weight loss and accentuate my figure.

Great question, and loved all the answers :)[/quote']

Love it! I have an old leather jacket that I didn't get to show off a lot as I grew out of it... I can't wait to put it on again a long with all my beautiful dresses and suit cases of skinny clothes! Haha :-)

Oooooh Jachut, i love your comment about being able to call yourself a runner ! Way to go ! I cant wait until i can call myself a runner too ! I have a loooooooong way to go before i can call myself a runner but im looking forward to it. Funny story------ a few months ago i was slowwwwwwly jogging on our local walking trail when a toddler wandered into my path. His mom pulled him aside and gently said "watch out for the runner, honey !" ( Me!??? A "runner?") God bless you lady, you just made my day !!

I haven't yet been banded ( just started the process and insurance will take 5 months) but I think this is a great question. Minus losing the weight as being the reward and shopping for a brand new wardrobe... If and when I ever get married I have always wanted to somehow incorporate part of my moms wedding dress into my own since I know someone that does this for a living. But until I'm down in weight it will never be an option because of my size.

I bought a Pandora Bracelet and have added beads. My favorite bead representing my surgery says "freedom". This is freedom from my old body, freedom from blood pressure meds, freedom from carb comas, and freedom to LIVE again. When I look at that bead it reminds me to be thankful for my second chance at life.

By the way, my success story... I have lost 55 pounds since 1/30/12. From a size 20 to a 14. I am loving it.

Your goal creeps up on you....it's not like you open a present on Christmas Morning, and then Celebrate.< /p>

You celebrate along the way with buying new clothes, doing new things, etc, etc.

By the time you reach your goal, it is just another day, other than the mental aspect of reaching a goal.

Along the way, I rewarded myself dozens of times.

I've had my band for 7 months and have lost nearly 40kgs, I havnt really rewarded myself yet because I want to still lose a bit more. Sure I've bought new clothes and things along the way but that's just because nothing fits me haha. Watching myself get smaller is a great reward in itself but the one thing I have promised myself when I get to my final goal is a bit of a tuck n lift. It seems some parts of me just don't want to go back into place lol.

Not ridiculous at all!! I also have a short leather jacket on my small list of "when I lose this weight"

I do tons of mini goals along the way. I do something small like a mani, pedi, fitness magazine subscription, or earings every 5 lbs. For hitting 100lbs lost my hubby took me to a spa for a day then a night at a hotel in a beautiful suite. For onderland (only 13lbs away) we are going on a shopping trip to the Mall of America. (I'm in Canada). I LOVE the idea of a ring for hitting my goal! What a beautiful idea! I'm SO going to do that!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
