Congrats on the weight loss. I was at a support group just this past week and their was a lady there that had also lost over 100 lbs and she mentioned that she has developed a severe rash where her skin was hanging. She had been going to her regular medical doctor repeatedly for these rashes and nothing was helping. So now her insurance is paying for her to have a Tummy Tuck because of all the loose skin and the medical issue with the rashes. I would call your medical doctor see what they can do for you. Just a thought..... Good luck.

Agree with above post, if you are having complications due to your excess skin and can document some medical problems some insurance companies will pay for at all or part of corrective surgery. Make sure you keep your appointments with your medical doctor and make sure he is documenting well your complications. Good luck to your and awesome job on the weight loss.

For a temporary help, my doctors office told me if that happens to try baby powder or stick deodorant.

Also be sure it is documented at your doctors office.

this is true that most insurances will allow coverage if there are medical issues with rashes, however, most will allow it only after you have lost a percentaghe of the access weight over your "ideal" weight, or after you have had the weight off for a certain time...so depending on these factors you may have to wait a bit for the lift, but it will most likely get covered from what i have researched.

the other thing to do is to photograph the rashes every time they are angry and inflamed .. u also need to visit the doctor everytime this happens too this may provide u with enough evidence to get the insurance to pay for the skin removal at some point as a medical proceedure.

I have just undergone an 11 hour operation to remove excess skin, this is a big operation. I used to pad out the sore bits on my tummy so that the skin would never touch each other, this helped a lot in prevention and making sure u dont use too perfumed washing powder or fabric softner on anything that will be touching your skin.

good luck ..

Definitely take photos and go to your primary care Dr every time it happens so it is documented in full.

One particular concern I would have is to be aware of what type of organism is causing the rashes in the dark and often moist folds of skin.

It's very important to stay away from all powders which have corn starch in them, as the rash causing organism may thrive by being fed with the corn starch. This was part of the information I received from my primary care physician.

Just a thought...I also hope you have relief from the rashes very soon!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
