I'M 6 days post op. I can't consume more than 300 calories per day. I feel dehydrated. Per the nurses orders I drank magnesium citrate yesterday which of course led to chronic diarrhea. Still have lingering gas and shoulder pain, all I want to do is sleep. I feel myself getting depressed. It hurts to drink anything I wonder if three sips at a time is to much....Amy thoughts? I have my one week f/ u with doc on Thursday.

Post-op really isn't a whole lot of fun but it is temporary. Concentrate on getting your fluids in.make it two sips at a time if three is too many. But do it often.

Pretty normal. You'll feel better soon. First 3 days I felt lousy. Day 4, I felt like a new woman... and now, I can't even tell you how great I feel, I am a new woman!

Just take it slow, Good Luck!

Are you on any pain meds? I am on day 7 and except for some aches and light pain at the I decisions, I feel ok. But the first few days were hell for me. We all heal differently. It WILL get better! Keep taking those small frequent sips.

Make sure you are taking little sips and not gulps, it is hard to change habits we have had for so many years. Also, get up and walk that will help you feel normal again so much faster. Just do little trips around your house, once every commercial break. Doing that will really help you move the gas out and help you recover better.

I am on day three and feel pretty crummy. My stomach feels like I'm carrying a ten pound baby around. I'm holding a pillow to it and that helps. I am also home alone all day, so there is nothing to distract me. It sucks but it helps to know that it gets better. I also feel weak because I can't consume more than 300 calories a day, and that is with drinking all day every 15 minutes, but I can tolerate all protien or milk based products, so I'm doing a lot of Water.< /p>

Hang in there girl. The bloating and pain gets a lot better. As a lactose intolerant person, I have a challenge getting Protein in because anything w/ a milky consistency makes me want to puke. I'm just doing my best until I get to soft foods and normal foods.

Today was my first day back to work it was painful ! Didn't even work a whole day. I have horrible gas and left shoulder pain. I. Still struggling to get proper calories and Protein, although today I took in almost 30 grams of protein which is the most I have had since per op. I'm going to continue to the best with what I can tolerate and we will get through this together! Hang in there, I keep hearing it will get better so I'm going to believe it! :)

I WENT THROUGH THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!!! I was depressed, sad, regretful!!!! I swear I thought I had an extreme case. Felt like post pardum depression.

On my first fill they had some big wig in the room watching the staff. I made sure I mentioned the mental aspects and how no one warned me. (since I was self pay)

Our car broke down and few other bills came up after my surgery s o I was full of regret.

I swear it gets better. I promise. I am 5 1/2 weeks post op.

I'm now 10 days post op and I still have diarhea can't get 500 calories down and to top it ff. feel like i'm Getting a chest cold. I was so focused on getting skinny I didn't consider all of what i'm Experiencing. But my dr never mentioned any of this all he keeps telling me is get 60-80gms of Protein a day... That seems so impossible and overwhelming I just lay in bed and cry. This is Aweful! And I suck at typing on my iPad!

Well I am a day and a half post op and my entire torso hurts with more pain in my shoulders. What causes your shoulder to hurt? My stomach is bloated and it hurts when I go from standing to sitting or vise versa But it's not intolerable. I like seeing all of you say it will get better! Thank you all!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
