How Much Biotin Do You Take? Why?

Recommended Posts

How much Biotin do you take? Did your Dr. give you a specific amount? After searching on the net I see it is possible to overdose on Biotin so I was wondering what you guys did to determine how much you take.

PS: yes my hair is falling out. :)

You know I have never heard of anyone overdosing on Biotin supplements. I take a dosage of 2500mg once a day. I have informed my doctor first because I also take blood pressure medications and meds for my thyroid. My hair started to thin. I cut it short and got lots of layers. My hair does feel a little fuller. My friend takes 5000 mg once a day and she takes many medications and she says she feels as if she has more energy. She is in remission from having thyroid cancer. I would always check with your doctor first before taking any supplements, just to be on the safe side as you really don't want any interactions if you are taking other medications or if you have an ailment that the supplement could do more harm than good.

BTW, I am not banded yet but I was told that losing hair in some patients is 'temporary' once you have had weight loss surgery. Maybe some others on here can be more helpful :)

Is your friend taking 5000mg or 5000mcg? I saw Wal Mart had it in 1000mcg and 5000mcg.

I doubled the recommed dose at my Drs suggestion. Was having really bad Hair loss. It helps but if I miss a couple of days the hair starts falling out again. Guess I need to ask if this is going to be a life time issue.

My doc told me it could take 12 to 18 months for my hair to return to normal. Seems like a long time for hair to grow back.

I think the Hair growth varies from person to person. It cant hurt to try them and don't stress about it, the stressing will only make things worse. I cut off all my long hair that I love so much (8 inches) but honestly, it feels great on my head more manageble, less knots. Lots of layers can help for the time being (just a thought).

I ended up with thicker shinier hair after banding. Probably because I increased my Protein. I was intentional on eating healthy with veggies and vitamins...my hair grew so much!!!!

We have 2 things working against us when it comes to our hair loss. One is less Protein and the second is the anesthesia. Biting will not stop it , bit will make what is growing back stronger.

I am 3 months out from having my gallbladder removed along with the plication and my hair has just began falling out this week and i know I have a few months to endure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
