Has anyone found out they were pregnant while they were in the process of getting banded? I am about 2 months from having surgery scheduled and just found out that I'm 4 weeks pregnant...Am I going to have to start over from scratch?

How exciting and frustrating at the same time! I hope your pregnancy goes really well. If you follow a close diet while pregnant (you only need an additional 300 calories a day - usually 1800 total) you can lose weight. I lost 30 lbs with my son. I basically did not gain a lb the entire time and then when he came out I was 30 lbs lighter. It may give you a great start to your WLS after!

Best hopes for the pregnancy and the WLS in the future.

Depends on how long your approval is valid. In general my doctor required all my general doctors appointments also be up to date like mammogram, pap smear. Also need a cardio ultrasound. I would call the surgeons office and see how long afer preg. you would have to wait to be banded. The other big thing I can think of is breastfeeding. The liquid preop and post op diets would be difficult if you are BF.

Congrats on your pregnancy. Generally, any surgery is considered risky during pregnancy (think of anesthesia risks to fetus) and only done if absolutely necessary. I can't imagine your OB would approve an elective surgery that you could easily do postpartum. Pregnancy comes with enough challenges without having to worry about losing weight with a band.

ETA: I may have read your question wrong. How long your pre-ops are good for really depends on insurance and your surgeon. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
