Anyone Banded At Less Than 200Lbs?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I weigh 201lbs and I'm 5'5. I'm sure I will lose weight during the preop diet phase and my surgery is in 2 weeks. Just wondering if anyone has been banded under 200lbs and how fast weightloss has been??!

I was 195 when I went in for my initial consult (I'm 5'2.5") and I was 206 the day of my surgery, 1/9/11. I didn't qualify for insurance so I was a self-pay. I was already in fairly decent shape in terms of my athletic ability so the Dr. had me on light exercise the day after my surgery. I had a pretty easy recovery, although I delayed and didn't really find my green zone until Sept 2011. Now I am 131lbs and a size 4-6. I would ultimately like to be about 125 and at the rate I'm going, that will be sometime next month. It was a great decision for me and I'm really glad I did it.

Wow that's great!!! Congrats on almost reaching where you'd like to be!!! So a 8-10lbs loss average a month is what you found with a lower weight to begin with? I'm hopeful now :)

I am 153cm and was banded at a weight of 70kg( 154lb). I was 74kg before starting the preop diet etc It took me just over 6 months to get to 52kg and I then over the next 2 years lost another 2kg. I have gained slightly and am currently back around 52kg.

I had to do the math on that, Elcee! So you're 5 feet and now weight around 110. Excellent!

And yes, RO, the months of Sept- Dec were pretty crazy, weight loss-wise. Once I was finally filled to where I couldn't eat very much, the weight just started coming off. Plus I started training for a 1/2 marathon at the time so the combo was a double whammy. It was actually a bit of a challenge to get in all the Protein and healthy foods I needed. The past couple of months have been a bit slower but that is to be expected now that I have less to lose.

Of course, everyone is different. I know I really struggled with hunger in the weeks after I was banded before I could get a fill, so if you don't have good restriction right away do not worry. You have the whole rest of your life to get it right. Good luck!

Yes Laulau, they'll band you but completely out of pocket. My surgery was $10,000 and fills are $200 a pop.

A wonderful reminder to " not eat that donut!" lol. My friend tried to get me to eat one the other day and I looked at her and said... "10,000". She looked at me and was like oh... Yeah, never mind! Take care girl, wishing u luck.

Wow everything is relative, obviously the shorter you are, you carry weight differently. I am just laughing to myself thinking my goal weight is heavier than where you started, but everyone's body is different and I am alot taller. Good luck to you!

Jenny,

I am 5'2 and currently 190. I will be banded May 22. My goal is 120! You look fantastic. Luckily my insurance is paying for this because I have high blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea. I have lost 8 lbs. since I made this decision to do this. Honestly I feel alot better with 8 lbs. gone. I can only imagine how good I am going to feel & look with more gone off this bod!!

I think its very exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you girlfriend!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
