I can soooo relate to this!! I feel better this morning but still when I walk and the belly jiggled it really hurts, I'm considering my sister's maternity pants lol and you're right, sucking in isn't happening!

Does the area around your port hurt more? It does for me - it feels really sensitive and sometimes when clothes touch it it's irritating it more :(

On top of it, I woke up with the sniffles today :( sneezing and blowing my nose are a nightmare!

my area around my port is basically the only pain i have anymore. :( it is very irritating if you even slightly run your finger over it sometimes.

hope you are feeling better!

Thank you! You as well

I wasn't sure whether this was to be expected

It hurts when clothes brush over it as well :(((

The area around my port is pretty much the only part that is still sore. i hadnt tested the areas before but i just pressed the areas around the other incisions lightly and they dont hurt at all. they are starting to itch.

if i wear anything too tight for too long, it also bothers that area.

I havent a clue where my port is either. The largest incision is still sore, but that's definitely not the port.

I thought the largest incision was where the port was. That's the only one that still hurts.

Nope, the big one is the incision that the surgeon used to get the band inside...most likely on your right... Port is supposed to be lower left... I cannot feel port at all

The large incision is used to place the port as well. The surgeon gets to pick where they place the port, so it can be in different locations on different people.

Yes they use that incision to do all the work inside. That being said, they would not place the port there because of all the scar tissue from that incision. So like I said before, your port is not there, and if it is, well, that's another issue for when you go to get fills.

The port still needs to be within a few inches in any direction, of the large incision. If you are looking to find yours, I'd start feeling around the perimeter of that incision, and working your way out.

I was banded on 4/13/2012 (Friday the 13th!) in Cancun, Mexico. Had a wonderful surgeon & patient facilitator. I had 1cc of Fluid in my band upon discharge from the hospital.

Just started on a "pureed" food diet & that is definitely a learning process! I am finding that if I don't ingest my food really, really slowly, I get a sharp pain in my left lower abdomen (below my ribcage/above my pelvis). I was slightly worried about it, but I'm thinking it's because I may not have chewed my food enough....If it continues, I'll give my primary care doctor a call & see what she thinks. In the meantime, I think I may revert back to more liquids until my body can adjust.

I have a follow-up appointment in the O'Fallon, Missouri area on May 16th. It was tough to find a practice that was willing to see me since I had my surgery in Mexico, but my first impression w/ this practice via telephone seems really promising.

I'm 16 days post-op & have lost 15 lbs. so far. That liquid diet works wonders apparently! I'm really excited about the prospects that my Lap Band holds for me in the future; I also think this forum is fantastic for questions/answers/support/etc....

I was banded on April 23. I am supposed to start solids soon on mushies now. I am alway full before I can finish a meal. Even 3/4 cup. Have no idea how I am going to get adequate nutrition but glorious to not care so much about food.< /p>

What's everyone having to eat so far? I'm on week two purees. I've been living off of egg drop Soup, baked potato soup and Protein Shakes. When having soup I can only get about two or three ounces down then I stop. I'm about to try very very watery mashed potatoes. I do miss chewing but I just chew ice when I get that way. I'm 8 days in and 8.5 pounds down. 41.5 pounds left to go!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
