SInce i decided to get this done, many people either have commended me or ridiculed me. The main reason why people think I got the Lap Band, is becuase they think i just want to be skinny woman, no, not at all actually  , im doing this becuase it will help me not only lead a healthy life and examply for my son, but it will bring me much more out of life. iM ONLY 26 AND i HAVE sleep APNEA! border line diebetic and other stuff, hormonal inbalances, and more.. Itll all be gone when the weight is gone. There is nothing better than spending a nice sunny afternoon playing tag or whatever with your kids, not feeling too tired to participate, its great! :P Also, not deaing with the constant dull shooting pain up and down your legs becuase they cant take holding you up much longer, going shopping and not having to settle for the not so cute fashion becuase its the only ones that come i your size, finally, looking in the mirror and simply LOVEING what you see. SO TAKE THAT HATERS! <_<

don't let no one make you feel guilty, or that you made the wrong choice, we are the only ones that know what we feel, our health.

I'm 36 and I have a two year old son. I want to live as long as I can so I can be there as a grandparent and even as a great grandparent. I have severe sleep apnea, and herniated disc. Obesity runs rampant through my biological father's family and when I see a cousin of mine who probably weighs near 400lbs and has severe sleep apnea I just can't help but know I need to nip this weight thing in the butt right now. I've already made sure that all the junk food is out of the house...and my son will eat healthy and will play sports, etc...

Good luck on your journey!

Don't let people get you down. I've had people hate on me... they tell me "just diet and exercise like everyone else". Welp I'm not everyone else. I did a year with a personal trainer and a year with a interventionist, most I ever lost was 30 lbs and I gained it all back. Lap band gave me the tool I needed to control my addiction to food. I don't regret it for one second!

I didn't do it for other people I did it for myself <_<

Oooooohhhh Jus krystal, you are one feisty chicky !! Good for you for being smart enough to look at the band this way ! There will ALWAYS be people who disagree with SOMETHING you are doing, right ? No matter what it is, somebody is going to disagree with you. And you may disagree with them too. But hey, its YOUR life and your right to get healthy any way you can, so if the band is the way it works for you , then go for it ! When you get strong and healthy you'll be so busy living your healthy life that you wont have time to listen to those ignoramusses who obviously know nothing about the band. Ask them some questions and see if they know anything ! Make the decision thats right for YOU !! ! Im 4 months banded down 32 lbs and my joints dont hurt as much and i have alot more energy too and I still think it was the best decision i made ! Good luck !!

I am 28 and have a lot of the same health issues (appnea, borderline type 2) and a son too! Luckily my family has been supportive, and I am joining a therapy group with other women who have eating issues (some who are banded). I am proud of myself. Not only because of this decision, but also because I started this process in late 2010, but decided to postpone due to moving and a starting a new job. I am glad I waited so I knew whether or not I could make a real commitment to a lifestyle change. You know what will best meet your needs.

congratulations ... you have thought it all out and timed it well. You will succeed with this. Im so glad that your family are behind you in it all, and that you have found a group thats so supportive.. meeting with the group should help you a lot with some of the emotional problems with eating that you may have. groups are wonderful therapy.

This is exactly why I didn't tell that many people about my surgery, and told no one at work. I didn't want to open up myself to hear those kinds of things -- comments like that are not helpful at all! Keep on fighting the good fight!! And, you can always come here if you need support and encouragement! :)

Best,

Catherine

I had an administrator say to me, "Don't you live yourself enough? Why would u get a lapband, you should be proud of yourself". This Hirt and I didn't have the comeback until later... Yes, I love myself enough to get myself in a healthier state so I may watch my children and grand children grow up. This person had a very bad bout of diabetics complications about a month ago. Bless her she made it through, but should have thought about her words:(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
