Anyone Else Have A Long Diet Regimen To Follow?

I was just wondering if anyone else had a lengthy pre-surgery diet they had to follow. Because my pre-surgery weight is so high, 510, Dr.Michaelson is asking me to lose 60 pounds prior to surgery. To achieve this Im on a very strict diet for 60 days. 3-4 bariatric protein shakes and one small lean cuisine meal a day. I'm to consume no more than 870 calories in one day. Today is day one and Im really struggling with the hunger pangs. Anyone have a similar regimen? Anyone have any good resources for encouragement or even a good hunger distraction? I work as a caregiver for disabled clients and am constantly surrounded by food or making it. Its awful! Ahhh! Any help or suggestions are helpful! :)

That's tough!

I was on a similar modified very low cal diet but could also include limited fruits and veggies which helped me greatly.

Having to cook for clients is not going to be easy while you are on such a restricted diet. Can you time when you eat your Lean Cuisine at the same time as they are eating or maybe right before? For me if I could have something so I wasn't so hungry before I had to cook it helped. Sorry I couldn't offer much more than that but know that you can do it!

I would say go to gnc and get some hoodia super thin it tricks the brain in to thinking your fool it has helped me a lot. I never lost my hunger two and a half years later. You take it a half hour before you eat it takes about five days to start working but when it does its heaven. Cant hurt to try it.

I would say make sure to get a lot of protein. my dietician gave me an equation to find the amount of protein needed, which is body weight x 0.3. According to this calculation, you should be getting around 150g protein a day.

I drank the Costco premier nutrition chocolate shakes for my pre-op. They are 160 calories each and have 30g protein. I would drink one for breakfast and one for dinner and have a Quest protein bar for lunch.

Good luck and I am sure you will lose more than 60 in two months if you stick with the diet plan!

I can time the Lean Cuisine meal whenever I want, but can't really forcing myself to go to bed hungry...Blah! Im gonna try different times and see if it helps...Or even break the meal up just to eat something solid. And I'll also look into the pills and check with my surgeon to ok them for now. Anything that can help me get through the first leg of this journey! And the Costco shakes are the other ones my nutritionist recommended. I've got the powder stuff right now that they sell but I see it getting old quick.

Also, from your experience do you all have any idea how much Ill lose if I follow this very strict and exercise? If I can drop 60lbs sooner Ill be able to get it sooner. Possibly within a week after my May 10 appointment...

Weight loss is so personal it's hard to say. The Premier ready to drink protein from Costco is very good. If it makes you feel better my doctor wanted me to do a 500 calorie a day liquid diet but I think I was allergic to them. The lean cuisine I would look for higher protein with lower carbs. Many LC are very high in carbs.

The good news is the larger u are the faster the weight comes off at first!
