I was in that same predicament last week! I had the worst pain at the top of my left shoulder and the left side of my neck. Was banded a week ago and thought I was havin a heart attack! And yes...it is gas, but gas from the air that got into ur body during the Laproscopic Procedure. It will get better. Give it abt 2-3 more days. Ur body has to absorb it. But...U must walk around as much as U can, even if it's just around the house. Walking will speed up the absorption. Hope this helps. U will be better before U know it! Good Luck!

I had my surgery yesterday morning and was discharged shortly after leaving the recovery room. I made myself pee so they would let me go home. As soon as i got home the pain started. Not just gas, but the incisions are rue worst. Any ideas on how to get the incisions to stop hurting this bad?

Too be honest with you I took the liquid medicine Lortab every 4 hours and that's how I got my incisions to stop hurting. As far as the gas I used the gas x strips.

I was also banded yesterday with the plication and I'm having the worst gas pains. And I also keep getting the hiccups. People keep telling me it will get better but right now I'm miserable. It hurts to move and walk. And I can't get comfortable. Any suggestions?

I was banded yesterday as well. The gas pains outweighed the incision pains for me. I was pretty miserable. My surgery was completed about 1pm and I finally started to get rid of the pain around 8-9'ish. I have a weird sensation in my chest (maybe more gas) but I wouldn't classify it as pain. I feel pretty okay this morning.

The plication is a new pleating system used with the band. It is still in trial phase.

I got banded yesterday. The process was not as bad as I thought. Gas-x strips are my best friend. I also have a trick for those who have medication that has to be crushed. My brilliant daughter crushed my meds and put them in a shot glass with some Water and just a dash of Mio. Ok,it was not delicious but I think it made the medicine go down much better.

I got banded yesterday as well, and have the ON-Q pump of lidocaine bathing my innards. I am not thrilled with the gas pain in the collarbones/shoulders, but expected it, since I have IBS and I have had that pain before. Moving around helps, it just feels like I did a killer ab workout. I will miss my taekwondo for a month, but I guess I will be walking a lot more to get rid of the gas pain

I use a heating pad. That seems to help me with the gas pains too. I was banded on Monday. Most of my pain is now where the port is.

I was also banded Monday, and the heating pad has saved my life! I couldn't sleep without it. I have not had port pain,it was all gas pain in my shoulders and chest. I have been feeling better since I started having chicken broth yesterday. But walking has helped me. I can't walk far because it starts to hurt, but I try to do as much as possible! The first 2 days I was hating life, but now I am feeling ALOT better. I hope you start to feel better soon as well!

I was banded on April 4, 2012. My Dr. removed my gallbladder during the sugery, he said that it was very damaged from massive gallbladder attacks. Spent the night in the hospital tonight's my first night home can't really sleep. My sutures hurt at times and the gas is really starting to rumble in my stomach. I tried a Protein Shake yesterday but was only able to get very little down. Water is about the only thing I can get down right now. Just found this site glad everyone is on here to help.

Catfish... Wow. At least they did it at the same time so you wouldn't have to do another surgery later. I'm not sure (all doctors are different), but I wasn't allowed to have Protein shakes until after my 4-6 weeks of mushy foods. Also only an ounce of water/soup every 15 minutes for the first week. Sorry for the pain you all feel. I don't miss that, but it does get better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
