3 Weeks Post-Op And Have A Lump Feeling After Eating?

Recommended Posts

in my chest area? I'm on mushy food but even with sugar free pudding , yogurt, shakes or cream Soup I get this lump feeling in my chest after I eat. Maybe I'm eating too fast, or not chewing correct? I have no fill and feel great. Some days I feel like I can eat a house some days I hardly feel like I can eat that much.

Anyone experience this??

TIA

Sounds like you are eating too fast. Slow down and take your time. Wait a minute between each bite. Remember it should take you about 20 minutes to eat a meal. Good luck...

Yep ! not unusual at all.

You need to practice putting the fork down, after you have chewed your bite, about the size of a dime" really well, like applesauce. So take your time. Also measurer your quantity ! Your pouch only holds so much. If you over fill, you can feel that too.

So put your fork down while you concentrate on your job of eating properly, and soon this will come naturally.

Shirley.

im pretty much the same and i was done 23/3/ .. more so as i eat. i dont know if im having way too much.. not much more than 200 mls...a half cup. i feel uncomfortable a lot of the time later on in the day. thats suggests that its the liquid intake thats making me feel like this. im not sure whats going on.. i know that im hungry nearly all the time. its murder to cook hubbies tea.

Yes you can, but ! you really have to start stuffing down food to do that, and its painful.

If you think you have done this"say in the future" You can always look up the 5 day pouch test, and this will reset your pouch to normal or near normal.

Its on here...

I don't stuff food down at all. It seems the little that I eat is getting stuffed down and this is very little like Soup , yogurt , etc. Im' three weeks out and no fill but I think I need to learn how how to take baby portions and chew better.. I will use the dime on the spoon/fork and chew until its baby like rule for now on!

It's a way to reset your pouch.

5 day pouch test.

Day 1 & 2 liquid Protein. Stock, cream Soups, Jello, Protein shakes. s.f pudding

Day 3 Soft Protein. Canned fish (Tuna, Salmon) eggs, fresh soft fish (Orange Roughy Sole Tilapia)

Day 4 Firm Protein. ground meat (Beef. Lamb, Turkey, Chicken), Seafood, (Shellfish, Scallops, Lobster, Fresh Salmon, Halibut.

Day 5 Solid Protein. Poultry, Beef Steak, Pork, Lamb, Wild Game.

I would print and keep this.

I had this same problem for many weeks after surgery (also it started at 3.5 weeks after). Turns out that I was eating too fast and the pieces were too big. Bites should be no bigger than your pinky nail. Chew, chew, chew, and eat sloooooowly. I went for my first fill yesterday and they didn't give me any! Said I was restricted from post-op with air in the band...that was contributing to the lump in throat feeling. Since I had lost 6 more lbs since the post-op visit, they thought I was restricted enough.

I was banded Jan 30, 2012. dr put in 4cc at time of surgery. Second fill was Feb 20, added 1.3 for total of 5.3 in 10cc band. felt some restriction with this but not uncomfortable. Returned on March 12 for check up and NP put in another .7 bringing me to 6 cc. 2 days later had to return to dr for unfil. NP removed .4 cc to bring total to 5.6 cc. I have had some PB since then. It is gradually relaxing and I haved not had a throw up in 2 days. I think it takes a week or two for the adjustment to settle down and for you to relax into the new tightness. I hav not been hungry and usually have a hot drink first thing in morning. around 2-3 hours later eat some Protein ( egg, tuna, Meat) then 2-3 hours later Protein Drink usually have early dinner because I feel better not goin to bed with food eaten 2-3 hours before bedtime. Just me. Sometimes I may have 2 Protein drinks a day. I have a problem getting in enough Protein.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
