Day 3 postop and things are doing much better. I haven't needed pain meds in 24 hours, I still have "something" that is a bit painful from time to time. perhaps gas pain, almost feels like too much pressure.

I hope everyone else that has been banded is doing ok and for those of you that haven't all I can say is it isn't the end of the world :) The day of was shockingly quick and easy.

Now for the journey to begin. As everyone has said the band isn't a magic and we all have alot of life changes to make. One of the first tests will be going to a family event this weekend. There will be sooo much junk food around, thankfully its still so close to postop that I can't eat any of it, however future events will be interesting.

Well I think I'm in ketosis because it's Saturday morning before 8 and I'm already out and about. My energy is higher than normal but my pre-op calories are barely getting to 600. I'll take it for now :)

Was discharged from hospital last night. Apparently the tumor was behind my spleen not somewhere it would ever have been found unless I had gone in for lap band surgery. So praise the Lord for that! Still waiting on lab results to be sure it was indeed benign. It was the size of an Easter egg! Doc said I should heal in about three weeks and can get the band then. After this pain...I bet it will be a breeze. I am more susceptible to getting sick like pneumonia and meningitis now but that is ok if it saved me from a different cancer down the road. I guess a tumor that size can cause a spleen to bleed internally and you can die from just that! By the time you become symptomatic it's over! I have more reasons now to be healthy....if I had said no lap band i could have died from being overweight! We just don't know do we!!!!??? Anyway, will keep y'all posted!

Susan

Nine days - scheduled for the 18th.

Need to go get lab work done in the next few days. Haven't done well on the liquid diet for the last couple of days. Too much socializing. At friends house, we all gather, bring food, and well.... I'm a good cook.

But back at it hard today.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
