My doc has his nurses on-call 24/7, I'd call and check in. At my pre- op the nurse used fever as an example of when someone should call in.

My surgeon's nurse gave me her cell number to all at any time but also in the post operative directions, they instructed me to call if I developed a fever. You should call.

Def. call about a fever. My first night home I was in the bathroom all night with diarrhea but didn't have a fever. The type of protein can give you diarrhea esp "protein shots" which are a low grade.
