  1. Hi I have been banded for 9 months. I have not had a situation where I eat something and it gets "stuck" as people describe stuck being painful. Pardon the following, it is pretty graphic and gross: What I do get sometimes is a food that I JUST swallow feels like it will not move beyond the upper part of my throat and then within 5 minutes it has to come flying back out (usually encased in mucous - so I really do mean flying!). This always happens with bread products (bread, noodles, etc.) The other circumstance I get food seems to be ok, and then one bite goes down and I can tell "this isn't going to work", it feels like I am getting a sour stomach. WIthin 10-15 minutes of this I throw up - not violent vomitting, but bend over toilet and out comes food in waves. Is this somethings that happens to others? Or is this 'getting stuck' and I am just not understanding other people's descriptions? If anyone can let me know.... thanks
  2. Hang in there it is all about choices. I agree up your protein it helps you stay full longer. I eat alot of greek yogurt to get me to my next meal (it surprises me what a fewsponns can do!). Also, drinking tons of water helps me. Some days I have 3-4 32 oz bottles of water. You will get through this to the next phase. We promise
  3. WAY TO GO!! Good for you!

How Do I Get Enough Protein???

Greek yogurt from Coercion is my standby for protein. Also, don't be afraid to make pudding with lowfat or almond milk with a scoop of protein powder ( that may help you sweet tooth too!). Yuan salad. Chicken salad, ham salad etc. Work better for me than Keats you have to cut. I use a tablespoon or so of Greek yogirtwith the light Mayo to boost protein and help make it less dry!
  5. I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago, i was banded in march. I was a nervous wreck because they did a slight unfill before my surgery. Luckily, I had NO APPETITE the first week and was able to maintain my "greenzone" eating habits until the fill was put back in! I must be learning something!!! On another note, the band posed no problems or issues for me during or after the hysterectomy.

    Nsv

Today when I returned to the office from being out of town, a co-worker stopped and said "wow. You look narrower from under your arms to your waist." For what that's worth?!? A bit of a 'different' compliment but I'll take it!

    Starving :(

I was there too! I found that more sipping on fluids helped. In fact. The more time I spend sipping on fluids all day the less I get hungry even now! In my first while post op I did 6 mini-meals a day (even though my doc prefers 3 a day always) I just knew that I would be too hungry! Also Protein powder in shakes or pudding helped fill me up too. good luck. It's a process...you will find what works or doesn't work for you!
  9. Good job ladies! I get a kick out of seeing plates of food people have at Chinese restaurants. I am good with à cup of egg drop soup!

Can You Eat In The Heat?

I live in a very dry climate. I have done well since my last fill. I just went on a vacation to a hot and (very) humid climate. I was basically unable to eat all week. When I did eat I vomitted. Not basic pb'ing but actual acidification vilifying. I would still be heaving30 minutes after eating. This was in response to band friendly foods and portions. I finally ate on the 4th day. It had rained all night and was 15 degrees cooler with lower humidity. Has anyone else experienced this? Or Experienced anything like this? It kind of scared the heck out of me!

Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed

Good approach visionary444! You are probably right, it is hard for unhappy people to be friendly at work! Don'tlet the receptionists bring you down. It is your body and your band. You have the right to know!
  14. GREAT! CCONGRATs and GOOD FOR YOU! Amazing what weight loss can do for our self-esteem!
  15. My only suggestion would be to not eat the carbs. I have a similar menu without the rice cakes. I eat protein by scale 4 oz. And veggies by 1/4 cup servings. I don't know what that would weigh on a scale. Good luck. I wasn't sure how long since your surgery I am a week short of 6 months.

Having Trouble With Slime And Burping

I just saw my surgeon today. He is taking 1/2 - 1 cc out in 3 weeks the day before myhysterectomy. Then he said he would put it back in about 2 weeks after surgery. The symptoms you describe are what he said we wanted to avoid. Call your LB doc! Good luck.

    Sex Drive

I'm encouraged to hear that the drive could increase. I've gained nearly 90 lbs in the 6 years since the hubs and I met. He loves me, wants me, thinks I'm sexy, and tells me I'm beautiful every day!!! But I want to feel sexy inside and out. It's not just about looks. . . but about health, energy, stamina. . . and flexibility!! Haha. But love is the most important thing. So I guess I'm off to a great start! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk Suzeeq- I hear ya! I am less than half way to my goal but feeling better about myself has really helped. This may sound weird but at my heaviest. It hugged me more that my hubbue still said he wanted me!

    To All You Stomach Sleepers.

It took me about a week to go 1/2 on my side & 1/2 on my back ( with lots of pillows!). Good luck, I am almost 6 months out and still get sore sometimes!

    Confused

Check with your doc on meals. Mine says 4 oz protein and 1/4 cup veggies. I bless if I put it into ameasuring cup it would about 1 cup. I sip all day! I use and reuse the 32 oz Gatorade bottles so I can keep track if quantity. I drink 3 to 4 full bottles a day. I drink: water with lemon, diluted crystal light decay iced tea, diet Hawaiian punch packets, whatever just to keep the fluids rolling. Good luck!

I have a 14cc band and am at decent restriction now. If it stays as it has this month. I won't get additional fills. See stats in ticker below.

207 Lbs Gone... 10 Lbs To Go

Absolutely wonderful. Hard work for sure - but what great payoff for you! Congratulations!
  22. Hi My doctor wants me to have a hysterectomy. I was wondering what others have experienced with a second surgery the same year as lap band? Anyone specifically have a hysterectomy? Do you need to have fluid removed from your band for another sergery to occur?? I am seeing my lap band doc on Tuesday and will ask him all these questions, but am really interested in information from you all...

    Carbonated Drinks

Crystal light is my savior. I tried the diet Hawaiin Punch packets but tired of that really quickly. I drink the decaf iced tea, and can even tolerate it in lukewarm water. Pop just doesn't sound good anymore, it never really did quench my thirst.

    Can You Feel Your Port?

I can feel mine more and more. At first it was awfully tender in that area and I was constatly rubbing it (which of course, made the soreness worse). SO, I used to refer to it as my gunshot wound. But now, i only feel it if I touch it. No soreness at all.
