I went to the doctor for another fill earlier this month. According to her scale I had lost 7 lbs but the scale at home said I hadn't so I was quite surprised. I was told to weigh once a week at work. I log my food everyday and I exercise 3-4 times a week for 1-2 hours each work out. I feel like I have finally hit my green zone though. I don't feel hungry anymore between meals and I can go forever without eating if I wanted but I don't do that because I know its not good for me. My doctor also told me to snack between meals and I have a hard time with that because I am not hungry and I have a hard time getting some food down because my band is a bit too tight but I am working through it.
  2. That is awesome. I am right there with you. I feel like I am in the green zone besides the fact that meat seems to get stuck for the first time since being banded on 3/06/12. This is definately a different journey and it is taking time to get use to the large amount of restriction that I have.
  3. You look awesome!!! I am down 47 lbs and I would like to lose about 80 more
  4. Have you had lab work done recently to see if you are anemic or have a b12 deficiency? Sometimes that happens after surgery. Make sure you get enough protein as well.

Ok, the weight loss has really slowed down. I was banded on 03/06/12, I have no restrictions when it comes to excercise now, I am working out 3 days a week for 1.5-2 hours a day. I am eating right and the scale is not moving. I don't feel like I am losing inches either. ugh. this is very frustrating.
  6. Thank God I am not the only one having this problem. I have been losing a large amount of hair and it has really scared me. I was thinking it was because my protein intake wasn't where it should be so I have been working diligently to get in the required protein intake but no one ever told be about take biotin. I take Vitamin C and a multivitamin daily (faithfully). I have an appt with my WLS on 5/30 and will be talking with her about my hair loss and if biotin is the right thing for me to take.
  7. My doctor using a numbing wipe before inserting the needle. I didn't feel anything this time around except pressure
  8. Ladies, the only thing I can say is that I have learned to listen to my body. I eat slow, and when I know longer feel hungry I stop eating. I also do not get a large plate, when I eat with my family I use a small plate, like that of a saucer really. I only allow my self to have a table spoon of sides and a piece of meat that is the size of my hand. I use the myfitnesspal on my iphone to track my Protein, sugar, calories and carbs along with my exercise activity. This really seems to help alot. Just today I go the ok to lift and do whatever excersises I wanted which is great because my husband is wanting to start playing rackett ball at one of the local gyms and I can't wait. You ladies are doing awesome don't get discouraged but listen to your body and don't eat the things that you have been instructed not to eat my your dietician, no breads, rice, oatmeal, corn or drink carbinated beverages or caffeine...etc, etc.
  9. I was banded on 03/06. I had my first fill of 2 CC's on 4/04. I am just now getting back to where I can eat salads because of not being able to get the lettuce down. I am down total of 43 lbs and quite excited. I go back on 05/02 for another fill and hopefully she will tell me I can increase my exercising. So far just walking is all she wants me to do.
  10. Hello, I am a medical assistant in nursing school. I was banded on 03/06/2012 and have to say it was one of the best decisions ever. Would do it again if I had the chance to do it over. Good luck.
  11. My surgeon had be on a liquid diet for two weeks before surgery inorder to shrink my liver.
  12. I have been banded for a month now or right at. I have gone out to eat with my husband and kids twice. Each time it was a buffet but, I ordered a kids breakfast of one egg (which I took maybe 5 small bites out of and was done) the second time (another buffet) I ordered a single serving of mash potatoes, took probably 3-5 bites and was done. I have done really well not over eating. I have amazingly learned to listen to my body tell me when I am full. I only wish now I was losing again, but I am only a month out
  13. If people are saying things about you then they aren't friends anyway and who needs friends like that. You are right those that are close to you are the only ones that matter. My sister has a saying that I just love. " If they (people) aren't your direct food chain then they don't matter" Don't let yourself get down because they are jealous of you and don't know the real you. You don't have to explain yourself to others if you don't want to and if you do then you will. I have had some awesome support from my family, at least again the ones that matter, some friends and some co workers but others not so much and that is ok because they don't live my life and I have made the best decision for me and my family. Keep your chin up, you are doing great.
  14. Mizpk83, I have been married for 19 yrs in June and with my husband for 21 years. He has asked me the same thing and actually said that " i will get skinny, get my nursing license and leave him for somone with more money" It is definately an insecurity for them but you just have to tell them again how much you love them and that if you didn't leave before then what would change that would cause you to leave afterwards. Your significant other will get through this as my husband has. We love our men for who they are, not for what we look like . Good luck I am sure that you will do great!
  15. You hit the nail on the head. I believe you are right we have all been through this at least once and I have had the same questions asked to me that you listed. They just don't understand and sometimes my husband didn't either but I believe he is beginning to see that I didn't do this for him or because I didn't think he loved me, I know he does. This is the man that I married when I was 17 at 155lbs and now I am over 200. He has seen in the best and worst times, I never once doubted that he loved me but in order for me to feel better about myself and to be able to live my life to the fullest. I had to do this.
  16. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I was banded on 3/06/2012 and can say it was definately the best decision ever. I have lost 14lbs since surgery and 28 pre-op to present. I already feel so much better and love hearing how much better I look. It is really a nice feeling. I pray and hope that in a year I can say that I am down to my wt goal or at least 100lbs down. Thanks for the tips and encouragement.
  17. Tammyjo85 you are going to do awesome. Good luck, will be thinking of you.
  18. Oh, ladies, I am so glad to hear someone else say what I have been thinking. Nursing classes start up for me next Monday and I will be 13 days post op. I have so much to study but can't seem to concentrate and I am afraid of failing. I hate this part of my life but I want to be a nurse so bad. Good luck ladies and prayers for you both
  19. MadisonPA, you are at 40 BMI now then your insurance will probably approve you. I know my insurance required records to show where I had attempted weight loss and failed because of regaining plus some and a 3 month follow up with PT, Dietary, Psych and my surgeon but was approved. I promise you my documentation wasn't the best because alot of stuff I tried on my own, but I did inform my PCP about it and it was approved the first go round, I have had my surgery and am loving it. Try not to stress, it will work out in the end.
  20. Chin up, this is all a challange, rather you had to do the 3 months of psych, PT, dietary consults or the 6 month dietary follow up. We all have had our moments and thoughts that the day would never get here, but it does. I agree with the girls, go get a pedi or a manicure, feel good about yourself. Tomorrow is a new day. Get up, start refreshed and set your mind to it. You can do this, you have gotten this far
  21. Sorry bandedgorJess, not having this problem but I am only 6 days post op. I have lost 11lbs so far. Have you looked at what and how much you are eating, when was your last fill, maybe time for another
  22. It will pass, I am feeling better but still have the left shoulder pain but not near as often as it was. I am down 11 lbs post surgery in 7 days 25 since starting pre op. We will get through this, we will. Keep your chin up
  23. I agree the gas pains have gotten better though I still have some of the shoulder pain. I am feeling pretty good for the most part, still sore and can't sleep on my left side. I am a side sleeper so my sleeping isn't the best yet but hopefully with each new day, it will get better and I can again sleep on my left side. Hope and pray you continue to improve.
  24. I really hope the shoulder pain doesn't last for weeks. ugh. I also struggle getting in the proper amount of protein in each day, not so much fluids because I can handle that but drinking the protien shakes only 30 cc every 30 min which could make it last all day long...literally. For some reason I also have been craving chewable food really bad. I thought I was over that hump but I guess not
  25. Tinarl73, after surgery you will not be able to drink out of a straw ever again or at least that is what my surgeon has told me. Do you have a surgery date scheduled
