  1. sunflower, how are you doing today?
  2. Tammyjo85 you are going to do awesome. Good luck, will be thinking of you.
  3. My left shoulder was hurting all night last night from the gas, couldn't hardly sleep. Sorry, I know you are hurting and wish there was an answer. May try applying some heat or warmth from a towel, like we use to do for our baby's when they had gas on their bellys
  4. Oh, ladies, I am so glad to hear someone else say what I have been thinking. Nursing classes start up for me next Monday and I will be 13 days post op. I have so much to study but can't seem to concentrate and I am afraid of failing. I hate this part of my life but I want to be a nurse so bad. Good luck ladies and prayers for you both
  5. You are doing awesome. I had lost 14lbs preop diet and post op 11lbs. I agree with you on how crazy the physician requirements are differing. Kind of interesting to see the difference.
  6. YOU ROCK!!! It is amazing the difference in physician requirements for pre and post banding.
  7. MadisonPA, you are at 40 BMI now then your insurance will probably approve you. I know my insurance required records to show where I had attempted weight loss and failed because of regaining plus some and a 3 month follow up with PT, Dietary, Psych and my surgeon but was approved. I promise you my documentation wasn't the best because alot of stuff I tried on my own, but I did inform my PCP about it and it was approved the first go round, I have had my surgery and am loving it. Try not to stress, it will work out in the end.
  8. Chin up, this is all a challange, rather you had to do the 3 months of psych, PT, dietary consults or the 6 month dietary follow up. We all have had our moments and thoughts that the day would never get here, but it does. I agree with the girls, go get a pedi or a manicure, feel good about yourself. Tomorrow is a new day. Get up, start refreshed and set your mind to it. You can do this, you have gotten this far
  9. Sorry bandedgorJess, not having this problem but I am only 6 days post op. I have lost 11lbs so far. Have you looked at what and how much you are eating, when was your last fill, maybe time for another
  10. Jessc1984, it is almost here. So excited for you. I couldn't wait to get banded and now that I have, I can't imagine not doing it. It was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I have lost 11lbs since surgery 6 days ago and 25 lbs since starting my pre-op diet on 2/21.
  11. Kristih, you will get through this. Pre-op diet was a struggle for me the first 3-4 days and then I was ok. I think I have a harder time after being banded for 6 days than I did before. I have had some cravings, but I ignore them, have some Water, Protein shake and find something else like studying to occupy my mind. You are going to do Great!!
  12. Good luck Ladybug tomorrow. You are doing to do AWESOME!!!
  13. It will pass, I am feeling better but still have the left shoulder pain but not near as often as it was. I am down 11 lbs post surgery in 7 days 25 since starting pre op. We will get through this, we will. Keep your chin up
  14. I agree the gas pains have gotten better though I still have some of the shoulder pain. I am feeling pretty good for the most part, still sore and can't sleep on my left side. I am a side sleeper so my sleeping isn't the best yet but hopefully with each new day, it will get better and I can again sleep on my left side. Hope and pray you continue to improve.
  15. I really hope the shoulder pain doesn't last for weeks. ugh. I also struggle getting in the proper amount of protein in each day, not so much fluids because I can handle that but drinking the protien shakes only 30 cc every 30 min which could make it last all day long...literally. For some reason I also have been craving chewable food really bad. I thought I was over that hump but I guess not
  16. Tinarl73, after surgery you will not be able to drink out of a straw ever again or at least that is what my surgeon has told me. Do you have a surgery date scheduled
  17. I weighed this morning and I am down 11 lbs. and 25 since starting my preop diet almost 3 weeks ago. I still get the left shoulder pain, but not near as often as it was...Thank the lord!! So Proud of you, keep up the good work
  18. some of the girls/guys are starting a new fb page. Unfortantetly I will not be doing that, Nursing classes start back up for me on the 19th and I just won't have time to handle two fb pages even though I like the idea. you are more than welcome to friend me on fb if you would like. look for karla spencer; st james mo. My photo here is the same as on my fb page
  19. I am right there with on the smell of roasted meats but I have found as each day passes, it gets easier.
  20. y you are going to do great!!! Lots of prayers for you tomorrow
  21. I have to do the protein shakes as well and I can't say that the gas pain has been so horrible that I have to take anything for it. I do get uncomfortable and sometimes feel like there is a bubble that just won't pop but as each day goes by, it seems to be getting easier.
  22. Judych, I started thinking about the lap band last summer and in August of 2011 I attended my first seminar. At that time my insurance coverage was "crappy" to say the least but in October they came around and decided that they would cover upto 85%. I set up an appt with the surgeon that had spoke at the Seminar (which I just loved) in October and the ball was set in motion. Her staff has been wonderful and helped me along the way. We set my surgery date on 01/27/2012 for March 6th and I got my approval from the insurance company on 2/24/2012. Talk about pins and needles. I was already a week into the liquid diet required by Dr Hawver and was scared the whole time that the insurance wouldn't approve and we would have to do an appeal but to my surprise it was approved the first go round. I am quite happy that I have had this done. I have 3 kids 20, 17 and 14 and a family hx of health problems that I do not want to inherit, so I knew I had to do something. I am glad that I joined this forum. thank you so much for all the encouragement. We will all need it to get through
  23. Two weeks prior to my surgery, I had to do a liquid diet. My surgeon said it was to help shrink the liver and it also helped prepare me for liquids after surgery, so it wasn't such a shock when I couldn't eat solids. Follow what your surgeon recommends as they are all different.
  24. I don't know that there are really any good tips. This is something you just have to set your mind to and ignore all other foods. The first 3-4 days were pretty rough for me too, but I got through it and now it is like routine, even now after surgery. I can cook for my family and not really have any cravings. You can do this!!
  25. I have had some of that. I was banded on 03/06. It is quite annoying and hurts like the dickens when it won't come up. Walking does seem to help relieve that
