I had the same problem...I added a small amount of out meal...about 1/4 cup and also added a non fat Greek yogurt to my protein shakes and started to feel much better....I was so hungry that the acid in my stomach was making me nauseous...I had a head ache from grinding my teeth and you can just imagine the mood I was in. I knew I needed to do something...just work slow, chew often and give it a go...I had oatmeal 6days after surgery...I had too

hi i have been banded a little over 9 months. and while i can say i wasnt hungry the first 3 weeks after i was banded, i can tell you how important it is to stick to the rules so early in your recovery. i think at this stage the most important thing is sticking to what your doctor/nutritionist says(especially regarding textures..pureed/mushies/soft..etc.) also i learned that i had to learn the difference between head hunger and actualy hunger. one thing i learned in this process so far is how many times i ate just to be eating and that i wasnt even physically hungry. sometimes i would get on this site when i "thought' I was hungry and before i knew it 1/2hour had passed and i didnt eat anything, which let me know that it was head hunger.

best wishes in your journey.

I have been working really closely with my nutritionist so I would suggest that...call them and say you are starving...lol.. That is what I did. The hardest part is definitely the physical hunger vs. mental hunger....but really for me adding yogurt to the shakes helped to beef it up just enough that I felt like I was having something of substance.

Great posts Banders. Remember brooth, It has saved me.

Hi,

I was just banded on Monday the 27th. and for the first week I am to be on Clear liquids only. Talk about starving lol. I am having runny stools because of this. Is anyone else experiencing this? Next week I get to graduate to "thicker" foods like, yogart, oatmeal, Protein shakes. Of course I don't feel any restriction right now but will go for my first fill in 6 weeks.
