Sounds like you are on the right track. You will love Jazzercise! It is such a good workout and fun, too! I am also on the right track again. It feels great to be losing again. I eat about half of what I used to eat before I was banded. I would like to eat less, but I think I will need about one more fill to get to that point. I am leaving for Italy on Monday. I hope I do well there and lose some more. Even if I eat more than usual, I usually do not gain weight on vacation due to all of the walking we do. However, I think my wine consumption will be up.

Oh, have fun in Italy!! I have always wanted to go there!

Ok, obviously I am not use to this whole exercise routine so I have a question. I went to jazzercise twice (Thurs and Friday).. Both nights, I was starving and could not get enough to eat. :( Before I was doing just Water aerobics and doing fine on 800 calories a day.. But the two days I did jazzercise, I was around 1200-1300 calories.. Is this normal? Will my body adjust after I have been going to jazzercise a while?

When I first start a new exercise regimen, I get very hungry. It is very normal. Your body will adjust when it isn't in so much shock from the new exercise routine you are on. Plus, you are probably burning 500-600 calories or more when you do Jazzercise. I burn off around 700 when I do Zumba.

I had my 3rd fill yesterday, so I now have 5ccs in my 10cc band, I immediately started feeling a difference, and low and behold I had my first pbing episode....of course it happened at work :(.....defenitely not something I want to expience again. With the feeling of very little to no restriction I guess I got a little lazy in my chewing and small pieces. Will have to be more diligent from now on!

I am the same way, my first two fills didn't give me alot of restrictions but my third one has and I sometimes forget to chew really good. i have 2 episodes and its not a good feeling.

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while so thought I'd give you an update after reading all the past post since Ive been on. I had my second fill on Wednesday so I'm at 6 1/2 cc's. I do feel fuller faster but I think the 3rd fill will put me where I need to be, hopefully! I'm still doing good though, slow and steady. 1 more pound and I'll have lost 50...34 since surgery on 3/22. I'm really telling it in my clothes, so lots of small victories. I had one pair of size 24 jeans, and mostly 22's and am now in 16's...so that makes me happy!! :) I'm excited to see what the future holds!

Sounds like most of you are doing well. Keep on looking at the reasons you had the surgery and keep your eye on the prize! Good luck to everyone! Deb

Congratulations, Ladybug28, you are doing an amazing job. You must be working out too. I still am not in size 16 pants but I hope to be soon. I can wear size 16 dresses it they are very full/loose in hips.

Hi Everyone, I haven''t been on here for a while. Seems like everyone is doing well.

I have had 2 fills for a total of 5cc's. Over the last 4-5 weeks I have had about 3-4 stuck episodes. So after this months Dr visit it was decided that I didn't have another fill on this visit but work on my own behavior. I know sometimes I don't make the right choices so I will be working making lifestyle changes. My Dr and I set some goals. 1) to lose at least 8 lbs by next visit 2) start to track my food more 3) excersise at least 3x a week.

Summer is a challenge good luck to everyone :D

Alerker, I appreciate your comments and thanks for checking in. It's good to redirect our focus and try new tools for success. I needed to be reminded. I only have 3cc in a 10cc band (1 1/2 cc in my band and 11/2cc in port tube). Even I get stuck episodes from occasionally eating too fast, food too dry, fibrous veggies. I really have good control of my hunger and don't overeat but keeping a food journal and counting calories would help me. I have been putting off adding new tools for weight loss but I am now more motivated. Thanks for sharing your plans. Melvan

Hi guys....you might want to try My Fitness Pal. I use it in my phone and track everything. It is similar to Facebook in which you can add friends, etc. I only add other lapbanders.

I have been tracking again the last few days cause I'm not going down and need some extra accountability. I use Loseit! For mobile Because it has this cool barcode scanner, which makes tracking that much easier! I never realized how literally everything has a barcode and now I can't use the excuse that tracking takes too long.

Back from my two week trip to Italy! I had a blast. I lost 10 pounds while I was there! Not sure how that happened since I ate gelato, drank wine, and ate Pasta. I guess it was due to all the walking we did. I got fill #3 and am really noticing a difference. I can now no longer eat fast or eat whatever I want without getting food stuck. I can really only eat less than 1 cup of food at a time. I guess the third fill was really a charm!

how wonderful that you were able to so thoroughly enjoy your trip and eat what you wanted, and still lose weight. the ideal combination. So youve had three fills now? how much have you had now ? what size band? im over three months post op, had two fills which amount to 4ccs in a 10 cc band. im having trouble, two weeks out, eating properly. i had that the first time around as well... i dont know whether i should have another fill or not. im losing, steady but surely. why i say im not sure about future fills... early in nov im taking our youngest grand daughter on an 11 day cruise.. i dont want to be having issues with food getting stuck etc while we are away. how long did it take for you to recover from the initial fill procedure? its nearly two weeks for me and it was nearly two weeks the first time for me as well. by the way, i just love the sounds of your trip. which part of Italy did you go to? did you see a lot ?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
