im being banded on thursday this coming week. im in the process of making chicken stock. ive got chicken thigh meat, onion, french onion Soup and a little pepper.. not much of that. what else can i put in for a little more flavour?? its o.k. but its very watery. i think i need some more flavour in it. has anyone here made up their own Clear liquids for the first post op stage?/

I just ate the Swansons broth, I like the reclosable container so I can just pour what I need and save the rest. But kudos to you for cooking for yourself! I'm sure yours is better for you than the Swansons.

6 days now till my surgery. The Lord knew when to get me in gear for this procedure as I am having hietal hernia repaired also. The pain from the hernia is almost unbearable. I take protonix for it but I have breakthru pain constantly.

OMG, I was in the same boat. I had hietal hernia repair and the doctor said it was the size of a large orange. I also took protonix but towards the end it didn't seem to work. Most likely you are going to be very sore for a while from the hernia repair. Afterwards I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, literally. The pain is from the hernia repair. It hurts to yawn, take a deep breath and pretty much everything else.

Has anyone used Mederma for their scars?

I have not, but I saw somewhere else on this forum that a patient was instructed to use "silcone sheets" to make scars less noticeable. I bought them from Walgreens here in Maryland. I just put 1 on today since my steri-strips havent fallen off of all my incisions yet. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

I got the call today that my surgery is tomorrow morning!!! It was supposed to be Friday but cancelled due to a plumbing issue. Yesterday they told me I would be very lucky to get in next Friday instead. Thank god I didn't bing eat or anything!!!!!!!! So I am just prepped my fridge and house, pulling the recliner out, and begging my coworkers to work for me next week! I have really appreciated the support here so far!

A question- home made turkey broth. Should I even try during my liquids stage or just keep it for when I am able to make Soups or need my mashed spuds thinned out?

Tomorrow meaning Sunday!! or Tomorrow meaning you leave somewhere where it is already Sunday?

Thats great either way....I really felt bad when I read your post that it had to be rescheduled. ---Then I got paranoid that mine would get cancelled for some reason.

Good Luck! Keep us posted!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
