Good Luck! I would be nervous and cautious. Ask plenty of questions.

How long has it taken those of you that have already had the surgery to recover?

hello march bandsters, I'm banded. Had a hernia repair done also. I was released from hospital last night. Outpatient surgery resulted in 2 day hospital stay. I'm glad to report that I am better now, but the gas pains are awful, taking my meds around the clock. Glad to be on the other side.

I'm still recovering. I had a hiatal hernia repair then lapband surgery. the incisions from my lap band surgery don't bother me at all. the 1 inch incision hernia repair is what's giving me pain. pain is much tolerable today but still very sore. crushing my meds and I'll see my doctor on Friday.

I am still recovering from my hiatal hernia. The incisions from the lap band surgery do not bother me, what bothers me is the 1 inch incision from the hernia repair. I'm crushing my meds and I'm on a clear liquid diet til Friday when I see my doctor. I am still very sore at the top of my stomach near my esophagus. The pain is more tolerable today then yesterday.

How long did you have the hiatal hernia? And what day did you get your surgery done?

I'm 5 days post op. I'm still having quite a bit of pain where I'm assuming my band is located. Also alot of shortness of breath. Is this normal 5 days out?

The chance of dying is about 1 in 2000 for band, 1 in 200 for gastric. I would ask the Dr. what exact complications he has had- slips, deaths, etc. From what you've said the Dr. was incompetent, but then again you did hear it on the news so there may be more to the story than was given. Is this Dr at a center of excellence?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
