I'm March 1st too. I have such mixed feelings about telling anyone. My husband knows and I thinks it's right to tell my kids cause you never know. With any surgery. I don't think it's cause I'm unsure if this is right for me because it really is. I guess I don't want to hear that I took the easy way out. People don't get it. So conflicted. My husbands ex had it done and we have a pretty decent relationship so I could have a great ally but ugh I just don't know.

I told the WHOLE world, including my FB friends! I'm proud of my decision to be banded, and for the most part, ppl have been really supportive. If anything, I've gotten more flack from family than anything (namely, my mother). She thinks it's ridiculous to spend all that $ cuz I can do it on my own. Well, here's my response.

#1. It's not her $ and she doesn't pay my bills.

#2. Sure I can lose weight on my own, I've done it many times. Hell, I could prob write a book on it! The keeping it off is where I fail (due to my food obsession). That's how I decided that I need something to physically stop me.

Lastly, #3. Anyone who knows me, knows I would NEVER make a decision like this without researching all I could. So, if they don't trust your judgement, they don't. WHATEVER! U know what is best for U!

Congrats on ur date. We're banding buddies :) Best of luck and be in touch!

My new surgery date is March 9th due to a last minute EDG test. I'm anxious and I honestly haven't hit the excited point yet. Just want it to be over with and this chapter of my life to begin.

I am March 9th too!! Two weeks from today!!! I feel the same as you... just want to get it done and over with.. I have bronchitis right now so I am really hoping my surgery date will not be pushed back because of it.

Sarah..I'm with you! I told the whole world!! I toyed with the idea of keeping it a secret but I am soo horrible with secrets I decided to just tell everyone and glad I did! I did get some negative comments (like my dad's "what happened to good old fashioned diet and exercise?") but I have brushed off all those comments, I have made this comiment to change my life and I am sticking to it and couldn't be happier or more excited! March 6th can't come soon enough!!

Hi everyone!

I just found out today that I am approved and my surgery date is March 9th!! Therefore, my pre-op diet starts um, today! :-p I was hoping my surgery would be during spring break (I'm a teacher) but the 9th is the day before Spring Break begins. I haven't told anyone at work and I don't want them to know yet. They keep asking why I have been taking off so much and I avoid answering. Thinking I am going to use the hernia repair surgery for now.

My Dr's office requires that I use Bariatric Advantage Protein Shakes. Has anyone tried these? I can barely get 1 down a day I don't know how I will get 4-5 a day.

Told my kids tonight that I was having this done. They seem ok w it but think its a little radical. They obviously have not done research nor do they need to. I know I have their support . I told them I'm not ready to tell anyone outside the immediate family. They seem ok w that. Work thinks I'm having a female blah blah procedure. I thought I could go back to work the next day but I'm re thinking. It's a desk job so I thought I could hobble in. May want to take it easy. March 1st will be here before I know it.

My weight is borderline so no one has said to do any liquid. My surgery was pushed through pretty quickly because they had a cancellation and I'm hoping I didn't just fall through the cracks. They are using my initial weight because I'm down a little too close for comfort. I think I will just do the shakes for a week to shrink my liver. I hope I'm not missing anything. I haven't asked the dr too many questions I feel they are being answered w all the research I've been doing. I bought liquid vitamins today at the health food store. Are the ones the dr says so much better. I'll have to compare ing.

Lisanj and Yvonne we're getting banded on the same day! Can you send me your email addresses or FB page info? I wanna reach out to you guys on the 10th or 11th and see how everything went.

I started my liquid diet today [i went to medeival times last night].

My job kinda made a big deal about my extremely generic Dr's note. But since I'm only using 2 days of sick leave (I have credit hours and Im gonna work from home 2 days to make up the full week of recovery time) they really couldnt ask me for additional info.

Not sure how my job will like me taking off the two days before a break. It is a no-no to take off the day (let alone two days) before a break. My surgery is 3 hours away from me b/c no one locally would even consider the lap band for me (my BMi is 51 and they don't do them over 50)..

I cheated already :( I had a very small grilled chicken breast today at lunch. Its so hard cooking for the kids and seeing/smelling all of it and knowing that you can't touch it.

You can do it!!! I know it's hard, but pretty soon it will start to get easier. I started on Sunday 2/19 so I'm right with you! My band date is 3/8 at True Results in Richardson Tx

It sucks. It really sucks. That's all I can say. Not sure which pre-op diet you're on, mine is high protein/EXTREMELY low carb. I'm allowed meat, veggies, cheese, 1 small serving of fruit, and a small portion of yogurt. I miss my carbs sooooo bad BUT I keep telling myself that no way in HELL am I driving 9 hrs for the doc to get in there and make me reschedule bcuz I didn't shrink my liver. As much as it sucks, we HAVE to do it! I'm sure the 2 week liquid phase after surgery is gonna be sucky too, but I got myself in this mess, I gotta make a commitment....and U DO TOO :) Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
