Hey y'all my name is Shawnte, I am 34 years old and I am ready to begin a new lifestyle change. I am over weight and have been for some time now. I have started diets and didn't complete them. I have gone to the gym which was also a fail. I am familiar with the lap band and recently had my PCM put in a referral. Good news is I received my approval letter and now I am so anxious to get this ball rolling. My husband will be deploying soon and what a better time to focus and take better care of myself. I have a few questions like starting what do I do now?!? I did attend a seminar a while back ago and have no problem attending another one. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated. I am looking for inspirational stories as well as becoming friends with anyone that has had or getting ready to have the lap band procedure.

Welcome Shawnte! Good for you for getting the ball rolling! I can tell you this has been the best thing I have done for myself. This will be my last weightloss journey! I was self paid, so it took a month from my first seminar to the day of surgery. I wish you a speedy process!

my doctor recommended my lapband journey, it has awesome information, videos , a place to start writing down what you eat, and it will calculate your Protein, fats, carbs after a while you will start to see a pattern, I still go back to it.

good luck!

Congratulations on making this decision! I just had my surgery 1/19 and I am so happy so far with the results. I think your next step is to sit and talk with a surgeon. They will set you up with a nutritionist and help you plan for the days ahead.

Once my approval was done, I set my surgery date. Then I had to have a pre-op physical and meet with the nutritionist. My surgeon asks his patients to follow a pre-op diet for two weeks before the surgery. I was able to lose 12 pounds and that really boosted my confidence going into the surgery. I have lost another 6 pounds in the 10 days since surgery.

Good luck. You will find so much information here on these discussion boards.

I would highly suggest you seek out any local WLS support groups as well! they are a great help even if not everyone has lap band! Good luck! And I hope your husband stays safe where ever he is going!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
