How Many Cc's In Your Band???

Recommended Posts

Wow!! I can't believe so many got such big fills in the beginning. I have a 10cc band and my doc said the max she puts in for the first fill is 3cc's. She put that in on 11/21 and I couldn't get Water down. It hurt so bad and I threw up. She quickly took 1cc out and I felt much better...She has one patient with more than that (6.5cc's), but the majority of her patients are between 3 and 5cc's and are loosing.

It amazes me to see how people have 7,8, or even 9 cc's in a 10cc band......I would think all you can eat is liquids and Soup....

This just goes to show how individual- from both a patient and surgeon perspective- this journey is for everyone! We're all comparing numbers to help us feel like we're in the "right" area of where we think we should be, but there's a lot more to it. People have different amounts of fat around their stomachs and different sized stomachs, so 10ccs may put one person on a liquid only diet while another person with 10ccs can still eat pizza. With my band almost full, I could still have anything I wanted.

Also, I sometimes wonder if getting multiple tiny fills is a method used by some doctors to make more money off insurance companies/patients for those who are paying a considerable amount for them. My fills are only about $10, so I don't think my surgeon wants to see me that often (kidding!).

I had my first fill today and was disappointed with only 3mls I don't feel any difference and feeling very hungry its going to kill me only having liquid, I lost 19lb pre-op and put on 4lb post op even though the band had 1ml put in during the op, feeling really down about the weight gain and struggling not to reach for the chocolate :(

I'm updating my original comments. When I first got my fill last week up to 4cc I didn't really notice anything. But since yesterday I've noticed that I am fuller longer. For example, I ate 3/4c of cheerios and 1/2c skim milk for Breakfast around 8am and I wasn't hungry until well after noon. Usually that will only keep me satisfied a couple of hours. So maybe it takes a few days to feel the results of a fill. I'm just glad to finally feel like the band is doing something!

I have a 4 cc band, with 1.5 cc in it. That will change tomorrow. I hope.

I go tomorrow for my first fill and anxious to see how much my doc fills it. I am not sure what his normal procedure is. I am hoping that I feel at least a little restriction. Haven't had any problems at all with my band so far. Got my fingers crossed for my appointment tomorrow. This post was a great help in giving me an idea of what to expect tomorrow.

I received my first fill on 01/11/12 in a standard band (10cc), I could feel a small change in the restriction. Yesterday was my second fill of 1.5cc and now, when I swallow Water, it hurts, even just a small amount it still feels like I'm going to bring it back up, but it does go through. My question is, Is this normal, or should I call and get a little bit taken out, like 0.5cc?

How are you doing with food? Eating and drinking should not be painful. I can consume large mouthfuls of Water without pain. That might not be the case for everyone, but you should at least be able to sip pain free.

Hi, I was having trouble with my doctor which I love so much cause he is so sweet and patient but he is too far from my new job and home that I've bEen missing work so much because he puts in too much and then a week later has to takes out Fluid cause i cant keep nothing down, it became so fuSturating. I couldn't get past 3.5cc with him. Finally I gave up and stop going to him for 4months (stayed at no restrictions and gain 30pounds) i then return back to see him in jan.2012 and Again the same issue occured. every visit there is a fee that i paying each time!!! Well to the long story short! Lol.... I started looking for a new doctor in the same medical building I work in. Finally I found one!!!! He seen me during lunch time! No wait, in and out quick!!!! And I'm back to work in 15min. So far I have had 2fills with my new Doctor and I'm am now at 5.2cc. In my band which I have never been at... I notice this doctor has a very diffrent technique, that is working great for me. My last doctor really didn't keep record of how much was in my band and would take out alll the Fluid out which felt very yucky inside my stomach and the next day I would not be able to keep nothing down (Protein drinks:or water> i would fast for 2-7 days till i would see him to remove the fluid). My new doctor has all the information in the computer and knows exactly how much he put in and tells you.

He takes out a little bit of fluid; just to make sure that he is in your port, then adds and tell you your new amount.

I am very happy with this new doctor. Feeling restrictions now at 5.2 cc...

I mention the doctor technique because for a long time I thought it was me and my band and no it was the doctor. They make money having u come back and forth and paying $380 each visit and you get no where.

My surgery was on 8/26/11. I got my first fill 6 weeks later (3.5 cc's) no real restriction. Got my second fill 2 weeks later (1.5 cc's) still not much restriction. Third fill 2 months later (.5 cc's) I thought what is .5 cc's going to do but I have so much restriction. I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks and eat smaller portions. I don't plan on getting another fill anytime soon.

I have 5cc in a 11cc band. It's pretty tight and I get stuck easily. I don't want to have it unfilled just because I have lost 7lbs in 6 days and finally feel a good restriction. I can't believe so many people have such big fills. My doc only puts maybe .5 to maybe 3/4 cc at a time. I couldn't ever get more. I didnt' feel much till this time but in the morning I have a hard time getting even liquid down. Sometimes I think it's too tight but other times I think its my sweet spot.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
