I Thought I Was Past Banders Hell...

Recommended Posts

I was banded on August 16th 2011. I had my 3rd fill in November 2011 and was feeling great. In mid December I had an appointment with my Doctor, I had lost 8 pounds since my last fill the month before, and was at an almost 40 pound weight loss. My Dr. Thought I was doing great so he decided to hold off on the December fill.

December was a rough month, busy with the holidays, running around, so I didn't get to the gym as often as I had been, and then making the wrong food chooses occasionally. I only lost 2 pounds since mid December, and now I am

So hungry in between meals.

I have an appointment next week with my Dr. And hopefully get my fourth fill.

I just wanted to check in with other's experience, I thought I was almost in my green Zone and now I feel like I'm not even close again. And once I actually get there it will stay that way ?

Thank you !!!

You can lose fat under the band and then it is not tight enough. Hopefully when the band is closer to the stomach and you have the right amount of fill your restriction will stay. I went 6 months between fills and the nurse said I had less fill in there than she had on record. She does not think I have leak more that even with saline it does evaporate. So after a long time like 6 months some of the fill can disappear.

The green zone is a moving target. You get a fill and for a while it is just right. Then as you lose weight the band loosens up so you need to go for another fill. Also as honk says small amounts of the liquid evaporate over time. But it's no big deal. It is quick and easy and it is also good to be able to checkin with your Dr and be assured that everything is OK.

Thank you, I was just feeling a little discouraged yesterday.

I just needed a little encouragement and to know " this too shall pass"

Heading to the gym now.

MMM My last fill was in August-this past month I haven't lost anything and maybe gained 2 pounds. The last 2 days I have been hungry-

you said they holidays left some temptations and I drank more than I usally do=empty calories, plus too much junk in the house! The crap is getting thrown out this weekend or put safely dar away! I am scheduling another fill-I think it's time. Good luck to you!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
