You Say The Band Didn't Work

Recommended Posts

Im confused why some people are continuing to stay on this website when they SAY "the band didn't work".

It looks like they are here to cause trouble and bash the band?

If you SAY the BAND is the reason you didn't lose weight. Then move on. right? Not that I can say leave, because obviously I can't and wouldn't do that . But i've noticed the same person going post to post arguing with people.

Honestly, how do we know the band is preventing you from losing weight? How do we know you didn't eat right ? Just saying.

The band helps with over eating. It does not make you lose weight. They don't place the band and the weight just comes off.

It's all about your diet. Sounds like some one needs something to blame it on. Im new WITH the BAND, but im not NEW when it comes TO the band. Ive done a lot of research on the Band.

I so agree with you, they band is only a tool. You can still eat all the junk that made you fat to begin with.

I LOVE my band!!!!

I'm early in the process but I agree with you about needing to make life changes. You can't keep the old habits and think this "tool" will fix it.

I think what we are seeing is fear.

if they leave this site, they really lose. unfortunately, it's not weight that is lost.

I would love to be a fly on the wall with these people who are so bitter about the "band". I would bet anything they started eating according to the DR and nutritionist orders to a T. Then after some time it went down hill from there. I may be wrong. But hey , id def put money on it.

As far as the band, Like I said.. it's a TOOL to help the amount your eat. It's not a high calories, carb, fat blocker. Im completely aware of the things that can HAPPEN to the band. But when the BAND is Functioning perfectly fine. Now whats your excuse.

Come on, get real people. Admit YOU failed. Stop the pity party and start fresh.

I don't like the band bashers either. This is such a positive site - I love it. I have been to other sites where there were a lot of band bashers.

My band didn't work the first time around. The tubing came undone.

Now I have a working band and I love it! No band bashing from me!

I saw a post on here the other day by a very successful long time bandster. Now not being banded myself I cannot speak on the topic my surgery date is Jan 30th. But the quote was that you don't have to be a perfect bandster just a really good one. That quote has resonated with me all week because I am worried and scared about what life will be like afterwards. But I know I will continue to make some bad choices because sometimes you just want what you want, however I do know that I can be a really good bandster 90-95% of the time and still be thinner and healthier.

Shap it won't be that bad, I felt like I was back to normal after about a week. You just have to be sure you watch what you eat until they start filling the band. The way you're thinking positively about the changes you need to make will get you going in the right direction after your surgery. Good luck!

Thanks for starting the topic, I am one that got a negative response from this person and I don't know if I should feel sorry for the person or not. They cannot be very happy. So lets stay positive and keep working with our tool!

I just LOVE my band...I never thought I would be where I am and I know some people of course are going to have complications and fail but its not their fault. But I think the vast majority that fail the band need a procedure that is much less dependent on behavior change. I think that is what the psych evals are trying to determine but that is hard to predict...I didnt know if I could change my behavior enough so how can the psychologist really know?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my band!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
