February Bandsters?

I know there's a special section for this, but it doesn't seem to be too popular so I'll give it a whirl here..

Anyone here to be banded in February besides me?

My surgery date is February 15th.

Feel free to add me on Facebook for support, etc. =]

cantwait2lose, How is the pre-op diet going? Any challenges I should know about? I start mine Thursday of this week.

It's going pretty good. The first few days were tough, but I kept saying to myself "I'm not going to cheat". Just keep telling yourself that and as he days go by, it gets a little easier! Good luck!

Stace2882, That is why they told me to start doing the 2 shakes a day then a small protein filled meal in the evening. It has worked well for me and I know you can do it. I was concerned to about the milk thing too. I normally drink 2% milk but have drank 1% before so it wasn't to bad for me to go down to it. They said skim or 1% and I can't tolerate the skim so.... I hope everything goes well for you. Here is my email address myluv2drive@yahoo.com feel free to email me anytime. Also add me as a friend on here.

Thanks for the info. I have got to find some kind of hobby to keep myself from thinking about being hungry. LOL.... Are you on the Optifast liquids?

@ myluv2drive, I don't have to be on liquids before my surgery. I'm thinking I should start having at least one protein drink per day leading up to surgery. Well, until the day before surgery when all I can have is clear liquids. After reading about all the people who are on liquid diets for a while before surgery, I am feeling like the kid who forgot their homework! LOL A little ill prepared...

@ Angel_eyes, There are so may post on here and so many different processes it is kind of confusing. I have been asking a lot of questions when I go to my doctors visits but I just recently attended a support group and learn so much from pre-op and post-op patients. It was such a good source of info that I collected there. You will do fine. I am going to add you as a friend so we can help each other through this.....

Hi all, I start my pre-op diet Wednesday and the dietitian recommended some protein drinks/powder but they are so very pricey was wondering what others were going to be using. The couple she gave me to try was (Muscle Milk, Iso Pure, Pure Protein, and Myoplex (Myoplex is the one I may choose depending on others recommendations). I was thinking of making them myself using 100% whey. Out of everything, because I'm an organization junky, this is the only thing that is making me go crazy cause I dont have it planned out yet.

Thanks in advance!

I am drinking ChocoRite Protein Shakes. It is a powder and comes in about 8 different flavors. They sale these at my doctors office. I start my Pre-op diet Thursday and I will be on Optifast then. I hope you find something that works for you.

Hello.....IM TO BE BANDED ON FEB 13 BUT I WENT TO PRE OP TODAY AND IM :(.....I HAVE TO SEE A PULIMONARY DOCTOR TO GET A CLEARANCE TO BE APPROVED IVE LOST 11/ LBS N COUNTING ....I REALLY HOPE I GET APPROVED PLEASE KEEP ME IN UR PRAYERS!!!!.....ALSO WAITING FOR LABS....& STUDY HOPE IT GOES WELL:)

Hi everyone, I have been so excited about my Feb 1st date and was so hyper going back to the drs office and being told that all my tests came back with great results, I wasnt required to go on a pre-op so Ive been drinking soups and protein shakes to practice.. got my overnight surgery bag all cosied up with a soft pj, socks, lipbalm, moisterizer, etc.. and suddenly I felt a calm.. everything was perfect.........(pause for suspense).......!

and then a week ago I got a call from a close relative, a close relative who has been a very painful aspect of my life because after they caused me so much pain they simply walked away, and because Im such an advocate for reconciliation (or kept taking the role of a doormat?) I kept trying to reconnect, only to be rejected, for years. Anyway. This relative called to tell me they just had a hysterectomy, and needed my help. So I literally dropped everything and rushed off to be by her side. She wasnt on my SUPPORT list of ppl to tell about my surgery.. so I realized Id have to delay my appointment until she was better so that I could disappear and get banded without her deciding that I've plotted something against her with my disappearance. I cried and cried after I told the Docs office I had to delay my surgery, because it took so much strength and mental preperation to get to this decision, and I was so afraid that I'd hit a wall and that I would never get to the surgery room for whatever strange circumstances... the fearful little child inside of me.

But after a few days of sulking and biting my fingernails and rushing around with errands to help close relative, I realized that the good part of the story is that I DONT feel hesitant at all! which is so unlike me! I only feel more confident that I want this! and I called the docs office and asked for a reschedule ASAP! (I didnt say that, but you get the picture lol). And now Im waiting for a confirmation for an appointment between 18-28 of February.. So hopefully Im still a February bandster with all you FAB FEB people! :))

I just needed to vent and have been too shy to do it until now.. So thank you :)

I am scheduled for 24th!! Me and my mom are getting banded together, having surgery back to back... Good luck everyone!

I have been anxiously waiting to hear from my doctor's office for my date. I knew it would be in February sometime but not sure when. Just this morning, however, they called and said I was good to go and if I wanted I could do it as early as next Wednesday, Feb. 8th. My doctor just requires that you do 1500 low fat calories two weeks before and I've been doing that pretty much all the time anyway. So I went ahead and chose the 8th so I can get started. Plus, I am planning a small trip to Chicago with my sister, daughter, and granddaughter in April and wanted to be past the liquid/soft food stage. I am not scared about the surgery. I've had several already. Knee replacements on both knees, gall bladder, bilateral mastectomy, so I'm a veteran at surgeries. Just a little anxious about making major changes afterwards in how I eat. Old habits are hard to break. I have 50 lbs. to lose to get to the goal that my dr set for me (170), but I want to go past that as I I am only 5'1". I am 60 though so I'd be happy at 150. I'm trying to think more in terms of size than weight so I would love to be at least a 10 whatever weight that will be. I was an 8 for about 4 weeks years ago when I tried the Phen/Fen regiment. The 70 lbs. I lost then came back within two years. My dr. requires an overnight stay. I mentioned that to my DH this morning (3rd time....he keeps forgetting lol). I've only told my 2 sisters, 2 daughters, and 2 friends, so that might be tricky to do. So I guess now I can join all the others who will be banded on Feb. 8th. Let's be sure to keep in tough on this thread to track our progress. So this is the beginning of being Fit in my 60's!!!

Debbie

Congrats and good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Just got my surgery date of 2/22 today. Insurance approval for BCN federal took 3 days. So excited! They used my Weight Watchers weigh-ins from 3 years ago as my supervised diet so I didn't have to wait six months. February will be a great month for all of us!

How incredible you and your mom are doing this together!! My mom wants to do it but she really doesn't need it. She needs to get a few off but not as much as me. She is my #1 supporter and best friend and I think it's fab you both are doing this together!!
