I disagree with yall/ The human body can reject when the body has issues of its own.. sorta like rejecting the perfect man when she is having pms.. If she had issues that needed to heal properly without the band--- why does that make the surgeon sound like a bad person?? Not to me it does not.. And whether he charges he is irrelevant. My surgeon told me up front tthat some times people have had to have them taken out and then 3-6 months later put back in.. He does not charge for the second procedure HOWEVEr he did say that he could not say that the hospital would be as nice. This is suppose to be a forum to be of encouragement and not immediately doubting a professional. We live in a society that is all about blaming and lawsuits.. We need to change our way of thinking.Not every one is as money hungry as the tabloids want us to think. Good luck Honey. I hope it all goes well for you in the end.

My grand had to have an fundoapplication for severe gerd and with-in one week his tummy looked pregnant and he was very sick, they opened him again and flushed his insides with anibiotics. He was fine after that for years, Infections can just happen, different reasons and issues. Glad the surgeon took care of you right away. Feel better.

My Surgeon made it clear. he is paid for the job, and paid for the fills. Any other type of work that he does, your Ins. Company has to pay, or you will pay cash. He is in this for business, It's what he does. So NO! Charity, Repairs, anything... He is paid for it all.

Well he did my surgery, and did a Great job. He was Terrible in aftercare, so I got another surgeon. But that's my experience.

That's why I said In my previous post. It's Greed from the Surgeon, and he would even agree to that.

Trust your doctor all you like but your body "rejecting" the band would not cause infection, infection starts because of bacteria, through poor surgical technique, poor aftercare, or a problem that was already in your body such as your gallbladder. The word rejection has been bandied about here at times, but ive never truly heard of it. A reaction to the band would be an allergic reaction - rare as silicon is inert in the body - not a spontaneous infection.

Infection is always a risk with surgery, it happens to the very best surgeons and is just one of those things. But if he's asking yoy to believe your body rejected the band but hey, lets try again in a few months and maybe it wont happen, he's yanking your chain. Noone here can say hes to blame as **** happens, but without doubt hes not being straight with you about what did happen. And the fact that he wants to try again indicates pretty strongly that the cause is within his control.

Also CT scans are expensive. They are not something that they use routinely after lapband surgery. To me the fact that your Dr ordered one so early on meant that he already suspected that there was potentially some kind of serious problem.

The reactions of the veterans around here show that "rejection" of a band at 2 weeks is VERY uncommon. So much so that we've never heard of it before. We've all seen bands removed for one reason or another after some time has gone by. We've also seen some of those people get re-banded. The ones that have been re-banded had their bands removed mostly due to a bad slip that could not be corrected through conservative treatments.

If it were me, self-pay or not, if my surgeon said I'd rejected the band, but we can try again in a few months--I'd want MUCH more information on just what he meant by 'rejected' and why he thinks it occurred. After what the OP went through, I'd want to be pretty sure that my body would not reject again. I do realize that there are no guarantees, but that is a lot of surgery to be put through.

Thinking it over, if I had even possibly rejected one band (I realize it isn't certain what happened) I'd look at bypass or sleeve which don't require insertion of a medical device. Also, keep the possible rejection in mind for future surgeries, such as knee/hip replacements or heart valves and the like.

I'm thinking,,,, with extreme pain ! Something else had to be wrong with the Tubing possibly !

If it were Rejection,, Why bother to put a Band back in ? It would only be rejected again,. "I would think..."

because the body will not tolerate the Implant.

I'm not sure how the body will react to a foreign object in it. "pain, or feeling sick."

But with pain ! I can't help but think that something was wrong with that band. "MY OPINION ONLY.".

My surgery is Tuesday so I can't add my own two cents but I was wondering, Myturn12, since you are self-pay (as am I), did you have to pay for the revision surgery and will you have to pay again for the next lapband surgery? I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious about selfpayer's experiences. Thanks, and I hope everything works out for you!

I was pertaining to the patient that started this Thread, with Cocobeans comment. So I gave my 2 cents on why I don't believe that the body is rejecting it. Instead it sounds like something is wrong to me, especially with all the pain she's in.
