How Long Was Your Lap Band Surgery Hospital Stay?

Hello. Can any of you share how long your hospital stay was? My surgeon was a bit vague, saying "a day or 2 maybe". Can you share what to expect while in the hospital? Thanks so much!

I left the same day and was fine...good to have the option of overnight though. There is usually a criteria for letting you go...like, you have to walk around, you have to pee, and you have to be able to keep down liquids...hope this helps!

I went into the hospital @ 5:30 am and was home the same day @ 2:00 pm...8 1/2 hours total outpatient

I was there for about 7 hours. My doc said I'd only have to stay overnight if for some reason he had to convert to an open procedure.

My surgeon said he would be able to send me home the same day if I wanted, or I could stay overnight. I chose to stay in case anything happened (thankfully nothing did). I went home the next afternoon.

I was only there a few hours. It worked great for me.

My surgery was in the afternoon. They kept me overnight because I had sleep apnea. But I was out first thing in the morning.

I was home by 2:30 after having surgery at about 8 or 9 am.

I had surgery in the AM, and the surgeon said I could go at 5. But, then as my husband was on the way, we live 1 hr away, he said my insurance insisted on an overnight stay. So. I was there about 24 hours. My son, who had surgery in August of this year, stayed for 4 hours after the surgery! So, it depends on your surgeon, and your insurance! Karen

My surgery was at 9 am, I had a panic attack when they transferred me to the operating room table. They put me under right away so I was fine, but he kept me over night just in case I had another panic attack.

I was in for two days, I had a hernia repaired during the surgery, so I had a lot of pain, then the next day after surgery my brother died, and I was super stressed. My blood sugar went through the roof. I was just not ready to go home. So I stayed the extra day. I should have been able to go home after 23 hours but it just did not work out that way.

I just had my surgery this past tuesday---I got out wednesday around noon. I was sticking around for that bowl of broth! I also had a hernia repaired. Im glad my Doctor kept me overnite--that whole just in case thing!
