I hear after 3 days on the shakes your body gets used to it and you don't feel hungry as much anymore. I start tomorrow!! Hang in there!!

How much Protein in your shake? Mine has 30grams. You may need to add 2 small Snacks in between and then a small low fat dinner. So a cheese stick (low fat) or hard boil egg just some ideas for snacks and make sure you drinks lots of Water or light drinks in between. I did it last week and I was able to do for 2 days before caving with all this Halloween party madness...tomorrow I am back on the Protein Shakes. I would like to lose 19 lbs before my surgery so it would leave me with exactly 100lbs to lose to my goal with my band. BTW I got the MyoFusion Protein Powder at GNC I like the chocolate. They told me to add a tsp of Peanut Butter (no sugar added) to the shake, to add flavor and if I am working out to add a scoop of raw oatmeal to add complex carbs. I will let you know how it goes. Of course tomorrow I have to go to Dunkin Donuts to buy donuts for my daughter's class. Like a ex-crack head having to get something from the crack house (SIGH)dry.gif

My pre op diet consisted of Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids, no Snacks, no meals, I did it for 3 weeks.

You have to get your mind prepared for it. 95% of our battle is between our ears.

You must have lost a lot of weight??? Its funny how when the doctor tells you to start you just start but to start it on your own you just keep procrastinating. (when I say you I really mean me lol)

This is so very true. The time I was at home recooperating was really a brain trip (for lack of a better description). I had heard people say hunger 'was all in your mind' but while recouperating I really noticed ALOT of it is. You have to train yourself to think positive so if you get hungry get your mind off it by doing something else, thinking of something else. Yes, I know there will still be times you can't stand it and need to it. When you are able to and if you like it, eat salad. Anytime I get hungry I chop up some lettuce, onion and a bit of Tomato and salt and pepper it and thats my snack. Also, I go for a walk which seems to make me feel full. I hop on the treadmill for as long as I can and it takes my mind off it and makes my tummy fill full.

I totally get that. But how do I deal when I'm just so hungry it was painful?? I was at work and literally starving. I understand alot of the time it is in your head but what about when u are truly hungry and can't eat real food because of preop? What do u do then?

How much were you drinking during the day? My preop diet was 3 Protein Shakes and 64 ounces of other, non-carbonated sugar free liquids. I was allowed sugar free popsicles and Jello. One night I ate two boxes of jello. The liquids did help to keep the hunger at bay.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
