  1. Thanks everyone! I won't be able to have my surgery until January. Right now I'm researching surgeons that specialize in this. I will be having my entire thyroid removed as well as some lymph nodes and whatever else the cancerous tissue is touching. All of my blood work and hormone levels came back normal so I was very confused as to why this was happening... Until I had an ultrasound and all of that. I really am Hoping that after it is removed I won't need WLS in the end and the weight will just naturally level Where it is supposed to be but I'm not sure if that will happen. Thanks so much for all the support!
  2. Thank you do much everyone. So sorry to hear about your leukemia and you are in my prayers. I wish you the best of luck. Skinny mini I miss you too! Best of luck to you and your hubby on your surgeries! Hopefully I will see you all soon
  3. Well, I was hoping to be one the December or January bandster wagon but unfortunately I received news yesterday that I have cancer. Papillary Thyroid Cancer to be exact. I'm going to be having surgery to remove my thyroid and any thyroid tissue as well as some lymph nodes and whatever else the tissue could be touching. I am pretty devastated by this news but at least I stopped crying. I hear it isn't so bad. And since it is my thyroid I was wondering if that is why I have a weight issue and fatigue and stuff and my doctor said no. But that makes absolutely no sense to me since the thyroid controls pretty much everything having to do with metabolism and hormones. But the weight issue should really be the least of my worries. Now I have to find a thyroid surgeon to get this thing going ASAP. It's weird, one day I'm a perfectly healthy 29 year old and the next I am a cancer patient. It feels unreal and shocking. Hopefully it will work out in my favor and I will lose alot of weight once this has been taken care of. And if not, I will be back with a veangance! LOL thanks to everyone for being so awesome and helpful with all of my questions and giving such great advice....you really are a great group of people! <3
  4. I think it depends on your Cardiologist - I already had an EKG and had to wear a monitor for something unrelated so all my cardio needed was the treadmill....all doctors are different - they require different things for a preop clearance
  5. i know!! for both of them it will be 400 dollars!!!
  6. Im having a giant problem finding someone who will do a clearance for this. Most psychologists dont do clearances and all the nutrionists just try to convince me not to do it....has anyone from Long Island had the surgery and has a psych or Nutritionist they can reccomend that will do it just for a clearance? So frustrated!!!!
  7. i would love to be FB friends with you guys also but do you guys make your surgery known? Id like to keep mine on a need to know basis so i wouldnt want anything written on my wall about it....but it would be cool to just message and become acquaintences.
  8. Welcome! My consult was October 12th and i got notification that they are already running it through the approval process for insurance. Eventhough I still have some clearances to get for my surgeon. Im looking into a December 27th Date!
  9. thanks! i actually dont have Emblem GHI, i was thinking of switching and then having the surgery. but i have Emblem Comprehealth which is a division of HIP - i thought they covered Fills...hmmm

  11. how many grams of Protein should you have at each meal? In regard to Protein shakes (pre op) as well as regular meals (post op) Someone told me once that 30g is too much for one meal and you shouldnt exceed 90g a day...does anyone know?
  12. well, i can tell you that Dr. Holovers office makes the approval process quick - they told me that approval can go through in as little as 2 weeks. so that leaves you some time to decide...i have Emblem Comprehealth but im switiching to GHI in January but the approval time is the same for Comprehealth anyway - so basically if you stick with your doctor you will have to pay 600 dollars every year?
  13. i was just saying - the comments on it - were cruel - and im excited to not have to be subjected to those (soon) and how im glad im not telling anyone because of the judgements...
