Recommended Posts

I'm sure this question has already been asked but I couldn't find it.. I make two week tomorrow and saw my doctor today for first follow up I was given an apt in a month but not for a fill just to see the PA! then she said maybe two weeks after that for a fill. I'm like are u serious I really thought it would be sooner. What has been your experience?

Usually four to six weeks, sometimes longer if you don't have hunger problems

and are still losing weight.

I had my surgery Sept. 12th and I have my first fill on the 25th. That will make it 6 weeks post op. I am starting to get hungry here and there too so I am ready for it.

I didnt get my first fill till 7 weeks post op but that is because I am afraid of needles. My doc tried to fill me at 4 weeks and I refused made an appointment for week 6 canceled and went in week 7.

However I have a few friends banded by the same doc that goes their first fills week 2 post op week 3 or week 4 post op.

It all depends on how your weight loss is going ( or it should be).

If you are losing weight you dont need a fill and remember the band is not going to be successful alone you must eat right and go gyming and such.

Work as a team remember :)

I never got a fill for a year because I kept losing weight. You shouldnt be upset if they dont want to fill you if the scale is moving. You only need a fill if 1) you are overly hungry and not losing 2) you can not go 4 to 5 hours without eating 3) foraging for food between meals. If you are constantly losing then I wouldnt get a fill yet. You have to remember the less fills the better because what happens when your band is full and you cannot get anymore fills. I have only 3 cc's in mine and I am almost two years post op.

I had my first fill at 6 weeks. I wished it had been sooner, but the doc said that I needed the 6 weeks for my tummy to heal. He was also very aggressive with my first fill (6cc)

My surgeon is conservative. I didn't get the first fill until 6 weeks, and he refuse to do them sooner than 6 weeks apart. I've been banded a year, 6 fills...6.5cc's in my band. Down 98 lbs

Exactly 4 weeks after surgery, then every 4 weeks after that for a total of 4 fills.

Have not had, or needed a fill since then.

I go back first week of November, and will ask for a .5cc fill. I seemed to have stalled a little in the past few weeks.

Bottom line though, first thing he does is weigh me, looks at the weight difference and divides by # weeks (4) to determine how much I am loosing

as a total loss, and how much per week. Then and only then is a fill open for discussion.

Surgery Date: July 26, 2011 (received a small fill)

1st fill - 4 weeks later - no restriction

2nd fill - 3 weeks later - no restriction

3rd fill - 2 weeks later - still no restriction (I think I'm at 5 cc's)

Next Fill 10/26 (4 weeks later)

I was done on the 14th of Sept and still haven't had a fill. I'm scheduled for the 8th of Nov. I have had 3 really bad blocks in the last 2 weeks so I'm a little scared to go smaller although I want to get it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
